The last will and testament of Jane Gelling of 
Banegrave in the Kk Marown she being of sound 
mind and memory at the time she uttered and 
dictated the same
First she committed her soul to God and her body 
to a Christian Burial
In like manner she left and bequeathed unto her 
son John Gelling the sum of one shiliing.
She left and bequeathed unto her son Robt. Gelling 
all her part of the Quarterland Balnegrave as well 
houses and lands to be possessed by him (the said 
Robt. Gelling) at the expiration of three years 
after Hollotide next ensuring the date hereof. He 
(the said Robt. Gelling) paying for and on acct. 
of the said premises the sum of sixty pounds British 
currency at or upon possessing the same in the following manner.
Viz twenty Pounds British units to her daughter Marg. 
Oates als Gelling the like sum unto her daughter Mary 
Cain als Gelling and the other twenty pounds unto her 
daughter Esther Gelling.

She left and bequeathed unto her daughter Esther 
Gelling all her part of the piece of land called 
Knockwillen to her own pleasure and disposal forever 
and likewise the profits and issues of her part of 
the Quarterland of Balnegrave aforesd until the 
aforesd Robt. Gelling shall come to possess the same.  
She left & bequeathed all the money & goods that  
shall come to her share upon the joint will of John 
Gelling Sen'r of Ballamillaghhun in Braddan & his 
wife at the decease of said John Gelling Sen'r to be 
equally divided between all her daughters and her two 
grand sons namely Robt. Gelling  son of the afores'd 
Robt. Gelling & John Gelling son of  her son John 
Gelling and if it so happen that if the said John 
Gelling Jun'r shall die before he shall come to possess 
the same then & in that case his share of the same is 
to be given unto his sister Marg't Gelling.  
She left & bequeathed all of her apparel to be equally 
divided between all her daughters. 
She left and bequeathed unto the poor of the Parish of 
Marown the sum of two pounds Brit's to be laid out 
upon Interest for their use.  
To any person that might claim any right unto her 
effects she left sixpence legacies.

And lastly she nominated & appointed her daughter 
Esther Gelling whole and sole executrix of this her 
last will and testament and residuary Legatee of all 
the rest of her goods and effects movable and 
immovable of what name and nature soever this the 
14th May 1808.

The executrix is sworn in court in form of law and 
hath given pledge for the payment of debts and legacies 
namely the witnesses to the will

Robt. Oates  husband of Marg't Oates als Gelling acknowledges 
to have received from Robt. Gelling the sum of  twenty pounds 
british payable unto her.
The said Robert Oates's said wife as mentioned in the annexed 
will of Jane Gelling dec'd and hereby exonerates, acquits, 
releases, and discharges the said Robt. Gelling, his executors, 
admons, and assigns the said sum As witnessed his hand this 
10th October 1812.

Charles Fayle husband of Esther Fayle Als Gelling acknowledges 
to have received from Robt Gelling the legacy of Twenty pounds 
British bequeathed unto his said wife in and by the annexed will 
of Jane Gelling deceased and exonnerates , releases, acquits, 
and discharges the said Robert Gelling his heirs, Executors, 
Admons, and assigns of the same as Witness his name X mark this 
3rd day of March 1814.  Charles Fayle his X mark

being in full of twenty pounds British as a legacy by Jane Gelling 
deceased to my wife Mary Cain

At  Douglas the 24th march 1813 John Brew one of the subscribing 
witnesses made oath that Thos Cain executed the before written 
receipt in presence of the deponent & of Edward Morgan the other 
subscribing Witness before me.
