The humble petition of Thomas Allen of the parish of Andreas.
Sheweth:  That your petr's wife Esther Allen departed this life on or about
the 22 day of Nov last.
That your petitioner and the deceased did some time previous to her death
make and execute a joint will leaving and appointing the survivor executor
of the said will.
That your petition now finds it necessary that he should be sworn executor
to the said will according to her design and intention of the parties that
the property therein disposed of may be preserved to the benefit of his
children and all legacies duly settled according to law. Your petition
therefore humbly prays that your Reverence will be pleased to appoint an
early day for the receiving the said will for the reason above assigned and
your petitioner will pray.
Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at Eccl Court to be holden
at Ramsey on the 9th April whereof all persons to have due
notice.

We Charles Cowel, Daniel Christian, Thos Sayle and John Church Wardens of
the parish of KK Andreas do acknowledge to have received from Thos Allen Esq
executor of the last will and testament of Esther Allen late deceased the
sum of five pounds Manks being a legacy bequeathed to the Poor of said
parish in said will and we do hereby release acquit exonerate and discharge
the said Thomas Allen his executors admors, and assigns of the same and
every part thereof.  As witness our names this 22nd day of July 1714

In the name of God Amen.
The 8th day of November in the year one thousand eight hundred and eleven
1811.
We Thomas Allen and Esther Allen als Radcliffe of Ballavarry in the parish
of Andreas do jointly make our last will and testament in manner and form
following.
First we commend our souls to God and our bodies to Christian burial. We
leave and bequeath unto our daughter Ann the sum of four  and 2 pounds Manks
to be paid at the death of the survivor of us.
We leave and bequeath unto our son Robert all and singular the live stock on
the estate of Ballavarry together all carts, ploughs, and farming utensils
of every description  the one half of the said stock -- --- it be possessed
by him at the of the first of us who shall depart this life the other half
or moiety at the death of the survivor of us.
We leave and bequeath unto Elizabeth Christian at present in our service one
of our oldest feather beds.
We leave and bequeath unto Mary Radcliffe at present in our service the sum
of two guineas.
We leave and bequeath unto Elizabeth Christian before named the sum of one
guinea.
We leave and bequeath unto Esther Christian the sum of three guineas. We
leave and bequeath unto Jane Kneale the sum of three guineas.
We leave and bequeath unto Charles Ratcliffe the sum of four guineas a year
to be paid him annually during his natural life.
We leave and bequeath unto William Radcliffe our tenant a year old heifer.
We leave and bequeath unto Wm Radcliffe our servant a year old heifer. We
leave and bequeath unto the poor of the parish of Andreas the sum of five
pounds to be laid out at interest for their use forever.
We leave and bequeath unto Jane Christian the sum of three guineas. Lastly
we jointly nominate and appointed the survivor of us executor or executrix
of this our last will and testament hereby revoking and disannulling all
other will or wills before made by us and confirming this to be our last
will and testament .  Witness whereof we have hereunto set our names and
subscribed this day and year above written. Thomas Allen

At an Eccl Court holden at Ramsey 9 April 1812 Esther Allen one of the
testators having departed this life Thomas Allen the survivor is sworn
executor in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the payment of
debts and legacies namely the Rev John Nelson Vicar of Jurby and Robert
Allen his son.
