23             Malew
The last will and testament of Mary Clucas of the 
parish of Malew, being of sound mind and perfect 
memory at the making of this the 21st of April 1812. 
First, she committed her soul to God and her 
body to Christian burial. 
Item, she left the sum of five pounds to her brother 
William Clucas. 
Item, she left the sum of five pounds to her sister 
Isabel Callister alias Clucas. 
Item, she left the sum of twenty pounds to Catharine 
Moore who lives in the house with her. 
Lastly, she left and appointed her brother Henry Clucas 
and her sister Ellinor Clucas whole and sole Executors 
of all the rest of her goods and effects of whatever 
kind or nature, including the money she has laid out 
upon interest, debarring and excluding every other 
person or persons with six pence legacy who shall see 
to the contrary hereof.

At a Chapter Court holden at 
St John’s the 31st May 1816
The Executors are sworn in Court in form of Law and 
to be true and just the one to the other in the 
division of the residuum of the Estate, and xxxx, 
and have given pledges for the payment of debts and 
legacies namely Philip Sayle of KK Patrick and 
John Quayle the witness. 

I William Clucas of Barool in the parish of Malew do 
hereby acknowledge to have received from Henry Clucas 
& Elinor Clucas the Executors of the last will and 
testament of Mary Clucas my sister the legacies 
bequeathed to me in the said will and I do hereby 
acquit exonerate relieve and discharge them and 
each of them there and each of their heirs executors 
administrators and assigns of the same and every part 
thereof. 
Witness my name this 28 day of June 1817,

At Marown, 7th July 1817, 
William Clucas did this day formally appear and did 
acknowledge the foregoing instrument of release and 
acquittal to be his proper act and deed, 
before me G. Stephen. 

I Henry Callister of the Parish of KK Patrick 
administrator of Isabella Callister als Clucas of 
the said parish of KK Patrick deceased do hereby 
acknowledge to have received from Henry Clucas 
Eleanor Clucas the Executors of the last will and 
testament of Mary Clucas late of the parish of 
Malew deceased the sum of five pounds Manks being 
the amount of the legacy left in the said will to 
the said Isabella Callister, and I do hereby 
release acquit exonerate and discharge the said 
Henry Clucas and Eleanor Clucas their executors 
administrators and assigns of the same and ever 
part thereof. 
As witness my name this 28th May 1819 [

Acknowledged before me, Henry Maddrell, Ar. Regr. 

Know all men by these presents that I Catharine Moore 
relation of Mary Clucas xxxx of Barool in the parish 
of Malew but now of Peeltown do own and acknowledge 
to have received from the hands of Henry Clucas and 
Elinor his sister the sum of twenty pounds which said 
sum being a legacy left and bequeathed unto her by 
Mary Clucas deceased of Barool in the parish of Malew 
now deceased in her last will and testament bearing 
date, and said Mary Clucas having departed this life 
some time in the month of October one thousand eighteen 
hundred and fifteen, and I the said Catharine Moore 
do hereby cancel and order the same to be cancelled 
upon the Registry so far as it respects me. 
As witness my subscription or mark this the 17th of 
May in the years 1821.
