Andreas 1822

The humble petition of Captain Robert Allen of Ballavarry in the parish of
Andreas.
Sheweth:  That his father Thomas Allen late of said Ballavarry departed this
life early on the month of July instant and had sometime previous to his
decease made his last will and testament and appointed your petitioner
executor thereof that the personal estate of the deceadent required the most
immediate care and managment which your petitioner is well convinced he
cannot legally proceed to until the said will is received into your
reverences court and petitioner sworn executor thereof.
In tender considration whereof your petitioner humbly prays for a speedy
hearing of this petition that the said will may be allowed to be received
into the next Consistorial Court and your petitioner sworn executor thereof
whereby he may be qualified in law to proceed to the care and management of
the said estate of his deceased father.   And your petitioner will pray.
Ordered that the petitioner do come on to be heard at a Consistorial Court
to be holden at Ramsey on Thursday the 25th instant whereof all proper
parties are to have due notice.

In the name of God Amen.  I Thomas Allen of Ballavarry in the parish of KK
Andreas being infirm in body but of sound disposing mind memory and
understanding do make my last will and testament in manner following.
First I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.
I will and leave to my daughter Anne the wife of the Reverend John Nelson
Vicar of KK Santon the sum of one hundred pounds British by me secured on
the estate of lands William Kneale of the Ballabeg in Andreas foresaid.  I
bequeath to my four granddaughters and daughters of my son Robert Allen of
Ballavarry aforesaid namely Esther Allen, Jane Allen, Catharine Allen, and
Anne Allen the sum of one hundred pounds British each to be paid unto them
serverally as they arrive respectively at the age of twenty four years.  I
hereby appoint and nominate my friend James Clark of Glentramman in the
parish of Lezayre guardian of my said granddaughters and trustee of their
several legacies to have the sums to them respectively bequeathed by this
will well and sufficiently secured and that my son Robert Allen shall
regularly and truly receive the interest arising from such legacies annually
until the said grand daughters each arrive at the respective ages of twenty
four years.  The time before appointed for being  paid such legacies.  And
lastly I nominate, constitute, and appoint my said son Robert Allen sole and
whole executor of this my last will and testament and full residuary legatee
of all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels credits and
effects whatsoever.  In testimoney whereof I have unto subscribed my name
this twenty first day of May one thousand eight hundred and twenty two 1822.

Executor sworn in with pledges Daniel Christian of Ballabeg and William
Kewley and John Kaighen of Ramsey.  James Clark the guardian in the
