In the name of God Amen
The Last Will and Testament of John Cowley
of the parish of KK Lonan sick and weak of Body
but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given
to God but considering the uncertainty of this mortal
Life I first recommend my Soul to God and my Body
to be Buried in a decent Christian Burial and as [….]ing
my worldly goods and effects I do dispose of them in
the manner following:

I leave and bequeath unto five of my well beloved children
namely John, Mathias, Elizabeth, Elinor & Sabrina
five shillings British each to be Levied and paid out
of my estate.

I leave and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Mary
one Pound British.

I leave and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter
Isabella the sum of ten Pounds Manks currency which is one
half or morely of the twenty Pounds due to me from my
		and the remainder to be paid to my Daughter [Jane?]
aforsd son Matthias Cowley ^ as she is fully Mentioned ___
specified in his articles or settlement of marriage and 
also I leave to her my sd Daughter Isabella Eight Pounds
British to be paid by my Executor.

I nominate constitute and appoint my Dearly beloved
wife Isabella Cowley whole and sole Executrix of all the
residue of My goods and chattles credits and Effects whether
moveable or immoveable by her freely to be enjoyed and 
do hereby utterly disallow and revoke all other wills and 
testaments ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my
Last Will and Testament as witness my subscription this
Nov 26th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand
Eight hundred and thirty one 1831

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas on the
9th day of Nov 1832.

Isabella Cowley the Executrix in the foregoing
Will named is sworn in Court in form of Law
well and truly to execute the last Will and 
Testament of John Cowley deceased to pay
all his just Debts and Legacies so far forth as the 
goods and Effects will extend and the Law bind
her and to all other acts and things
pertaining to the office of Executrix according
to Law.  And to these ends she has given
pledges namely William Killip and Thos.
Kerruish both of the Parish of KK Lonan

Know all men buy these Presents, that We, William Killip
in the Parish of Loan and
Thos Kerruish of
the Parish of Lonan are held and firmly bound
to William Lord Bishop of Sodor and Mann, and his Successors, 
in the Sum of Three Hundred pounds
British; to the Payment whereof well and truly to be made, we bind
Ourselves, our Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns, jointly and 
severally, by these presents, to the said Lord Bishop and his Successors.

Witness our Subscriptions, this
9th day of Nov'r 1832.

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Island hath this Day
granted probate of the Last Will 
of John Cowley
deceased, to Isabella Cowley his Widow and
Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such, that if the said
Isabella Cowley
shall well and truly administer the Estate and Effects of the said
John Cowley deceased; and shall 
in all Things relating thereto conform to the Laws of this Isle, the Orders
of the Ecclesiastical Courts thereof, and the Oath she
hath this day taken, then the foregoing Obligation to be void, otherway
to be and remain in full force and virtue in Law.
