Ballaugh 1833 In the name of God Amen. I Robert Brew of the parish of Ballaugh being weak in body but of sound disposing mind memory and understanding do make my last will and testament in manner following: First I commend my soul to God and body to Christian burial. I leave grant and bequeath unto my son John Brew with the full consent of Elinor Brew alias Cowle my wife all and singular that part of our estate and land situated in Ballaugh known and distinguished by the name of Sam's Croft otherwise Magher e vroogh adjoining the High Road on east side leading from Ballaugh Brewery to Scrondyl Mill the said croft being the whole of what was formerly held by Samuel Quirk when my tenant together with the whole of that parcel of lands now occupied by James Cowley as my tenant the same being in two enclosures the one on the east and the other on the westside of said High Road leading from Ballaugh Brewery to Scrondyl Mill the same being of the quarterland of Cormodil beg to be possessd by him after the decease of me and my wife Elinor Brew aforesd. I leave, grant, and bequeath unto my son Wm Brew the rest and remainder of all my lands together with my share of Scrondyl Mill to be by him possessed after the decease of my said wife Elinor Brew hereby fully reserving to my aforesd wife the profits and issues of said lands houses and mill thereon built and erected and other appurtenances during her natural life - he the said Wm Brew, my son, is to pay at the end of six months after the death of my aforesaid wife unto my daughter Isabella wife of John Kinrade the sum of twenty pounds British and the said sum to be understood as a lien and charge upon and against the before mentioned premises bequeathed to my son Wm Brew until paid in the nature of an absolute security for the same. I leave and bequeath unto my daughter(Catherine) wife of Patrick Mylecraine the sum of five shillings British as legacy. Lastly I leave and bequeath the rest and remainder and residue of my goods, chattels, credits, and effects of whatever description to my beloved wife Elinor Brew aforesd whom I also nominate consitute and appoint sole and whole executrix of this my last will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed or caused to be subscribed my name this 5th of March 1832. Robert Brew my x mark Witnesses present: Thomas Radcliffe John Craine I Elinor Brew wife of the before named testator do hereby consent that the said lands bequeathed to my son John Brew so far as I am interested shall also descend to and become the property of my son John Brew aforesd after my decease.
