This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of Jane Gawne also
Cottier of the Shen Valley in the Howe of Kirk Christ Rushen who departed
this life on the Eighteenth day of February 1834 being in perfect mind and
sound memory when she delivered those words in manner following:
First she commended her soul to Almighty God and her body to Christian
burial.
Second she bequeathed that her son John Gawne is to get his living on the
place with his father during his natural life.
Third she bequeathed to her three daughters namely Ann Gawne, Jane Gawne,
and Elizabeth Watterson also Gawne ten pounds to be paid them at the decease
of her husband John Gawne.
Fourth She also bequeathed to her daughter Margaret Kermode also Gawne
twenty shillings to be paid her at the decease of her husband.
Lastly she nominated, constituted, and appointed her loving husband John
Gawne whole and fully executor of houses and land and all her goods and
effects movable and immoveable of whatsoever kind or denomination soever.

At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown in the parish of Malew on the 30th
day of April 1834.
John Gawne the executor in the foregoing will named is sworn in court in
form of Law well and truly to execute the last will and testament of Jane
Gawne deceased, to pay all her just debts and legacies so far as the goods
and effects of the decedent will extend and the law bind him and to do all
other acts and things pertaining to the office of executor according to law
and to these ends he has given pledges namely Michael Quark one of the
witnesses of the will and James Clague of Rushen.

Know all men by these presents, that we, Michael Quark of the parish of
Rushen and James Clague of the parish of Rushen are held and firmly bound to
the Rev. B. Philpot, Archdeacon of Sodor and Mann, and his successors, in
the sum of three hundred pounds British; to the payment whereof well and
truly to be made, we bind Ourselves, our Heirs,  Executors, Administrators,
and assigns, jointly and severally these presents to the said Archdeacon and
his Successors.
Witness our subscriptions this 30 day of April 1834.

Whereas the Eccl Court of this island hath this day granted probate of the
last will nuncupative of Jane Gawne decease to John Gawne.
Now the condition of the above Obligation is such, that if the said John
Gawne shall well and truly administer the estate and effects of the said
Jane Gawne deceased; and shall in all things relating thereto conform to the
Laws of this Isle, the orders of the Eccl Court thereof, and the Oath he
hath this day taken, then the foregoing Obligation to be void, other way to
be and remain in full force and virtue in Law.
