57        Maughold
In the name of God Amen.
I Mary Callow alias Kneale of Booiley Cardle in the parish of KK Michael
being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be
given unto God for his same therefore calling unto mind the mortality
of my body knowing that it is appointed unto all living to die - do make
and declare these presents to be my last will and testament.  And do hereby
revoke all other will or wills by me made previous to the date of these
presents.
First I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to
the earth to be entered in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of
my hereinafter mentioned executor.
And as touching the worldly goods and effects that I have I dispose of
the same in the following manner.
2ndly I leave and bequeath unto my son William the sum of sixteen
pounds
3rd I leave and bequeath unto my grand daughter Mary Skillicorn the sum of
ten pounds.
4th I leave and bequeath unto Mary Corkill daughter of Wm Corkill Ballagorry
the sum of two pounds.
5th I leave and bequeath unto the poor of the parish of Maughold the sum of
two pounds.
6th I leave and bequeath unto Ann Corkill (near the mill) the sum of ten
shillings.
 And six pence legacy to every craver.
Lastly I nominate ordain constitute and appoint my son John Callow sole and
whole executor and residuary legatee of all the rest of my goods and effects
moveable or immoveable of whatever kind nature description or denomination
whatsoever.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name or mark
to the same this first day of September in the  year of our Lord One
thousand eight hundred and Thirty Six 1836.

I John Clague husband of Mary Clague(Skillicorn) do hereby acknowledge
to have received from James Callow the executor of the last will and
testament of Mary Callow deceased the sum of ten pounds being the
whole amount of the legacy left and bequeathed to my said wife Mary Clague
in and by the will of the aforesaid Mary Callow and I do hereby release
acquit and discharge the said James Callow his heirs executors
administrators and assigns of the same forever.  As witness my subscription
this 17th June 1839.

At an Eccl Court held in Ramsey the 17th Dec 1836
John Corkill and Wm Goldsmith the subscribing witness to the foregoing last
will and testament of Mary Callow deceased having made oath on the Holy
Evangelists that the said Mary Callow duly signed and executed the same as
and for her last will when of sound mind and memory James
Callow of Ramsey executor of the will of John Callow who is the executor
named in the said will is their upon sworn well and truly to fulfil and
execute the same according to law to pay all just debts legacies and funeral
expenses of the testatrix so far forth as the law will extend and the law
bind him and to return a true and faithful account of his proceedings to the
Archdeacon's Registry when then unto lawfully
required and to these ends hath given pledges namely Wm Kerruish and
the said Wm Goldsmith who have entered into a bond to that effect

By virtue of an order by Thos Corlett Esqr Vicar Genl upon this petition
of James Callow of Ramsey dated 14th Aug I have sworn William Callow
and Ellin his wife, Thos Callow, Mary Corteen, Cath Skillicorn and Margt
Stephenson with said petr and Margaret  and left charge for Thos Corteen
Phillip Skillicorn and Robert Stephenson to appear at a court to be holden
in Ramsey on Saturday next as next of kin of John Callow deceased to answer
the petitioner and suit of James Callow this 14th Dec 1836.

Received from James Callow of Ramsey the sum of two pounds Manx
being the amount of a legacy bequeathed to the poor of the parish of
Maughold by the late Mary Callow of said parish this 9th June 1837.
