William Preston, 1842

 Malew 1842 
In the name of God Amen.
 I William Preston of the parish of Malew being of sound mind memory
and understanding having taken into consideration the uncertainty of mortal
life do make and publish this following to be my last will and testament.
First I commit my soul to the hands of Almighty God and my creator and my
body to a Christian burial.
Secondly I leave and bequeath to my son Edward two pounds British with half
of my wearing apparel
I leave and bequeath to my son Charles five pounds British and half of my
wearing apparel.
I leave and bequeath to my son John two pounds British beside what he owes
me at the present time.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Margaret wife of William Gale five
pounds British
 I leave and bequeath to my granddaughter Mary wife of John Kelly of
Ballasalla ten pounds British.
I leave and bequeath to my granddaughter Elizabeth Preston daughter of
William Preston the sum of one pound British
Lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint my youngest son Robert Preston
whole and sole executor of all my worldly goods and effects moveable and
immovable of what kind or nature soever debarring all cravers with the sum
of two shillings and six pence as legacy in witness whereof I have
subscribed my name or my mark this the Twenty sixth
day of December One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight(1838)

At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown 25 October 1842.
The executor is sworn in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the
payment of debts and legacies namely William Creer of Crossag and William
Cowley of Ballasalla both in the parish of Malew
             Probatum est   J. B. Hartwell and T. A. Corlett
