Whereas William Sayle of Ballakwill in the parish of Andreas departed this
life some time ago having first duly made and published
his last will and testament in writing bearing date the Eighteenth day of
March One thousand eight hundred and forty two wherein and whereby he left
to his daughter Catherine Craine wife of Philip Craine residing in America
the sum of ten pounds as legacy which said will was duly
proved at an Ecclesiastical Court held at Ramsey the First day of April
One thousand eight hundred and whereas the said Thomas Sayle executor of the
said William Sayle having departed this life without him  paid the
said legacy Miss Ann Sayle Administratrix of the said Thomas Sayle paid the
same
Know all men therefore by these present that I Philip Craine do hereby
own and acknowledge to have received from Ann Sayle Administratrix of the
said Thomas Sayle who was executor of the said William Sayle the sum
of ten pounds being the amount of the said legacy left to my wife Catherine
Craine in and  by the will of the said William Sayle of the 18th day of
March 1842 and I do hereby desire and request that the said legacy may be
and do stand cancelled on the said will recorded in the Archdeaconal
Registry of this Isle.
Witness my name this 19th day of April One thousand eight hundred and
seventy five.

The humble petition of Thos Sayle of the parish of Andreas Sheweth that the
late to wit on the 20th day of March instant William Sayle your petitioner's
father departed this life having first duly made and
published his last will and testament in writing whereof your petitioner
is appointed executor and your petitioner is desirous to have probate
granted of the said will and your petitioner sworn executor of the estate of
the said Wm Sayle in form of law.
Wherefore your petitioner prays a hearing hereof and that  your worship may
be pleased to grant probate of the said will and ----- your
petitioner executor of the estate of the said Wm Sayle in form of law
and petitioner will pray

Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at a court to be holden at
Ramsey on Friday next whereof all proper parties are to have due
notice.

At an Eccl Court held in Ramsey that 1st April 1842
Upon hearing this petition in presence of the parties and their advocates
and upon [examining] Wm Tear and John Corlett witnesses to the will of Wm
Sayle deceased I am of opinion probate ought to be granted thereon as prayed
for and the same is therefore hereby so ordered and adjudged accordingly.

Be it remembered that on the Twenty fourth day of April One thousand eight
hundred and seventy five personally appeared before me Edward Mortimer
Archibald Esquire  Her Britianane Majesty's Consul General at
New York and James Tompkin Bolles of Geneva, New York, one of the
subscribing witness to the execution of the foregoing instrument and
made oath on the Holy Evangelists that Philip Craine and Catharine
Craine the executing parties hereto duly executed the same in presence
of deponent and  of D. P Nelson the other subscribing witness thereto.
In testimony whereof I the said Consul General have hereto subscribed
my name and affixed my seal of office this Twenty fourth day of April
AD 1875.

Thomas Sayle executor of Wm Sayle died and Ann Sayle of Andreas became
Administratrix de bonis non of estate of Wm Sayle deceased - granted probate
to him on 1 Apr 1842
He left to his daughter Mary wife of John Kee 10 pounds
He left to his daughter Jane wife of Thomas Quine the sum of five pounds He
left to his daughter Catharine wife of Philip Craine now in America
10 pounds
He left to his daughter Ann wife of John Cormode, and daughter Eleanor wife
of Thomas Wade, and daughter Elizabeth wife of Cochrane Kayll the sum of
five shilling each as legacy
He left to his grand daughters Esther and Catharine 3 pounds each
He left to his grandson John Kee 10 pounds
He left the residue and remainder of my goods chattels and effects to my son
Thomas Sayle and he appointed said Thomas executor of his will 18
day of Mar 1842.
Pledges were Wm Tear of Ballawhane Andreas and John Cormode Groar E Dhooney
Andreas.
