Lonan 2 At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas 25th October 1843 Margaret Cowley of the Parish of Kirk Lonan having departed this life on or about the first day of September last past — Intestate, and this Court having received intelligence thereof hath (for the preservation of the rights of all persons concerned) Decreed her husband John Cowley and her seven children namely John Cowley, Thomas Cowley, Joseph Cowley, Anne Cowley, Jane Cowley Mary Cowley and Eleanor Cowley co-administrators of all and singular the Goods, Rights, Credits, chattels, and Effects, moveable and immoveable whatever of the said Deceadent. And he the said John Cowley is in trust for himself and his said Children thereupon sworn, well and truly to Administer the same, to pay all the Intestate's just Debts, so far forth as the Goods will extend and the Law bind, and return into the Episcopal Registry a full, true and perfect Inventory thereof, and an accurate Account of all Transactions touching the same when thereunto lawfully required. And to these ends he hath given Pledges in form of Law, namely James Cowin of BallaCowin and John Clague of Laxey Gill both in the Parish of Lonan. Decretum est Thos V. Sodor & Man T. A. Corlett Children who acknowledged receipt of their share of their mother's estate include: John Kermode Husband of Anne Cowley John Quilleash Husband of Jane Cowley, both on May 8, 1847. James Hudghan husband of Margaret Cowley, on February 6, 1850. Thomas Cowley, on June 2, 1853. John Cowley on June 2, 1853.
