Braddan 1846 Christiana Christian E 2 The humble petition of William Christian of the town of Douglas Baker Sheweth That Christiana Christian your petitioners late wife departed this life having duly made and published her last Will and Testament whereof she appointed petitioner Executor Whereof your petitioner prays a hearing hereof & that Your Worship may be pleased to receive the said Will & grant probate thereof to Pet’r __ ______ Edw. ____ ______ _____ _______ ____ that this petition do come __ to be heard at Douglas on Friday next ____ to All proper parties to here due notice Given this 8th Dec 1846 T W Corlett At an Ecc’l Court held at Douglas this 11th Dec 1846 upon hearing this petition in the presence of the parties and their advocates and examining John Goldsmith one of the subscribing witnesses to the last will and Testament of Christian Christian I am of opinion the same has been duly proved (no objections being offered) and that probate ought to be granted _____ as prayed for and the same is therefore hereby ordered adjudged and decreed ____ T W Corlett This is the last will and testament of Christiana Christian otherwise Bridson of the Town of Douglas I leave and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Christian the sum of twenty five pounds to be paid to her when she arrives at the age of twenty one years I leave and bequeath to my son William Christian the sum of twenty five pounds to be paid to her when she arrives at the age of Twenty one years. And if any one of my above named children dies before he or she arrives to the age of twenty one years, then and in that case his or her aforesaid legacy shall be paid to the survivor of them shall live to the age of twenty one years as aforesaid. I leave and bequeath to my husband William Christian the rest and remainder of all my real and residual property of whatever nature and wheresoever situated I nominate constitute and appoint my said Husband whole and sole Executor of this my last will As Witness my subscription this thirtieth day [line unreadable] } Christiana Christian _______ and Declared _____ ____ as her last Will and Testament John Goldsmith John Shipley At an Eccl. Court held in Douglas the 11th day Dec 1846. John Goldsmith one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper writing [perpetuity] to be the last Will and Testament of Christiana Christian the Testatrix having made oath on the holy Evangelist that the s'd Christiana Christian when of sound disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and executed the same as and for her last will in the presence of s’d ______ and John Shipley the other subscribing witness W’m Christian the Executor therein named is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the same according to Law, to pay all [full] debts legacies and funeral expenses of the Testatrix so far forth as the goods will extend and the law bind him and to return to the Episcopal Registry Court of this diocese a full true and perfect Inventory of the same with an accurate account of his acts and proceedings in the r____ when thereunto lawfully required and to those ends he has given pledges namely Edw Caine and Henry Costain who have executed this ____ Bond in presence of the Court.
