In the Name of God Amen.  We Richard McKneale and Jane McKneale of the
parish of Lezayre calling to mind the uncertainty of human life do proceed
to make publish and declare this our joint Will as touching our worldly
property being of sound mind and memory at the making hereof.  First, We
commit our Souls to God, and our Bodies to decent Christian burial.
Secondly, we leave to our son Richard McKneale now of this [can't read a
word because of a blot] that parcel of purchased land lotts belonging
situate in Lezayre afsd. and the house ___? thereon wherein we now live, to
be possessed by him at and upon the decease of the longest lived of us, To
hold to him and his heirs & assigns.  Thirdly, we leave our loom and all
materials thereto belonging to our son William McKneale.  Fourthly, we leave
to our children John, Daniel, Thomas, and Henry two shillings and six pence
British each as legacy.  Lastly, we nominate constitute and appoint the
_____ion of _? Executor and Residuary legatee of this our joint will, in
witness whereof we hereunto subscribe our names this 30th day of January
1839.

At an adjourned Ecc'l Court held in Ramsey the 22 Jul 1848, John Corlett,
one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper writing purporting
to be the last will and testament of Rich'd McKneale and Jane McKneale
deceased having made oath on the holy Evangelists that the sd testators when
of sound disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and executed
the same as and for their last Will and Testament in his presence and also
in presence of Pat Caley since deceased the other subscribing witness and
Dan'l Caley of Lezayre having made oath on the holy Evangelists that he was
well acquainted with the manner and Character of handwriting of the sd Pat
Caley and that the signature Pat Caley as a subscribing witness to the said
will would pass on him as the handwriting of the sd deceased.  Rich'd
McKneale the eldest son of the Testators is therefore sworn well and truly
to fulfill the sd will and to administer the personal Estate and Effects of
the Testators according to law And to return to the archdeacons Registry of
this diocese a full true and perfect Inventory of the sd Estate with an
account of his acts and proceedings in the Premises[?] when thereunto
lawfully required  And to these ends he has given pledges namely the sd John
Corlett and Dan'l Caley who have exeduted the usual Bond in presence of the

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted
Probate of the last will and Testament of Rich'd and Jane McKneale, late of
Lezayre, deceased, to Richard McKneale the Executor in the sd will
named--And whereas Capt. J. Corlett of Ramsey in the Parish of Maughold and
Daniel Caley of Sulby in the Parish of Lezayre have agreed to become pledges
to the said Rich'd McKneale--Therefore, Know all men by these Presents, that
We, the said John Corlett and Dan'l Caley hereby bind and oblige ourselves,
and other Executors, and Administrators, as Pledges to the said Rich'd
McKneale for the due and faithful Administration of the Goods and Effects of
the said Deceased, according to Law.  Witness our Subscriptions, this 22d
Day of July 1848.
