38    Malew
In the name of God Amen.
I Isabella Teare alias Moore wife of William Teare of Malew being of
sound mind memory and understanding at the time of the making hereof but
considering the uncertainty of this life do make this my last will and
testament in manner following, that is to say.
I commit my soul to God and my body to be buried at the discretion of my
executor hereinafter named.
I give and bequeath to my husband William Teare aforesaid my one half
or moiety of those lands and premises called and commonly know by the name
of "Fox¹s Field" or some such name being a part of the estate of Scarlet in
the parish of Malew together with certain other land and premises called and
commonly known by the name of "The Crofts" or "Level" being situated in
Burnequarter in the parish of Malew on the following condition that is he is
to give security upon the above named lands and premises for all the
legacies I shall hereinafter bequeath
I give and bequeath to my son Thomas the sum of five shillings.
I give and bequeath to my son William the sum of five pounds sterling.
I give and bequeath to each of my three remaining sons namely Robert, Joseph
and John the sum of twenty pounds sterling.
I give and bequeath to each of my daughters namely Catherine and
Isabella the sum of twenty pounds sterling and a bed and bedding.
It is also my will and desire that all the legacies that I have herein
bequeathed to my children be paid to each one of them in order as soon as he
or she attains twenty one years of age and not sooner the same not being
subject to interest.
And I do hereby nominate and appoint my  husband William Teare whole
and sole executor residuary legatee of all the rest residue and remainder of
my goods chattels and effects of every nature and kind whatsoever
and  wheresoever hereby revoking and making void all and every former
will or wills  by me heretofore made and executed and I do declare this
only to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I the said Isabella Teare have hereunto subscribed
my name or caused my mark to be thereunto affixed.  This the sixth day of
March one thousand eight hundred and forty nine 1849.

At a Chapter court holden at Castle Town the 11th May 1849.
William Teare sworn executor with pledges John Shimmin and Robert Gilmour
both of Malew.

In year 1861 "Crofts" was sold to Margaret Quayle  subject to such
legacy.  When Isabella Teare attained age of twenty one years she was
paid by Margaret Quayle the said legacy of twenty pounds with interest
thereon and she asked it be cancelled 17 Dec 1862.
