47    Michael 1850
In the name of God Amen, I William Daugherty of Ballagawne in the
parish of Michael being sick and weak in body but of sound mind memory and
understanding do make this my last will and testament in form and manner
following this Seventh day of April 1849.
First I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.
Secondly I leave to all cravers the sum of six pence each.
I leave to my beloved wife all my share of the purchased land part of the
Quarterland of Berk in the parish of Michael with the buildings thereon
also my share of the houses and garden in the Village of Michael
aforesaid known by the name of Billy Crow's Houses.
Likewise I leave to my said wife Elizabeth Daugherty my share of the Meadows
called Ballaneddin Meadow whether the same be Quarterland, cottage, or
intack and whether situate in the parishes of Ballaugh, Jurby, or Lezayre
all the lands and houses aforementioned to be at the disposal of my
executrix Elizabeth Daugherty aforesaid.
I leave to the poor of the Parish of Michael the sum of five pounds.
I leave to my grandson William Daugherty Ballaugh all and singular my
right and title to that purchased property in the said Parish of Ballaugh
part of the Quarterland of Ballacurn or whether the same be cottage or
intack land - reserving the life interest of all the said property to my
son William Daugherty.
I leave to my son Charles Daugherty the sum of five hundred and fifty pounds
as legacy.
I leave to my son Daniel Christian Daugherty the sum of two hundred pounds
as legacy.
I leave to my son William my share of Ballacaley Meadow.
I leave to each of my sons Philip Daughterty and Robert Daugherty the
sum of five shillings each.
I leave to my daughter Dinah Daugherty the sum of two hundred and fifty
pounds.
I leave to my daughter Elizabeth the sum of two hundred and fifty
pounds.
 I leave to my daughter Margaret the sum of two hundred and fifty
pounds.
Lastly I nominate and appoint my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth
Daugherty whole and sole executrix of this my last will and leave her all
the residue of my goods and effects both moveable and immoveable together
with all cash credits or any other denomination of goods of
what nature or kind soever they be confirming this and no other to be my
last and testament the day and year before written

At a Chapter Court holden at KK Michael on the 30th day of May 1850 Thomas
Skillicorn and Patrick Kelly the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing
paper writing purporting to be the will of William Daugherty
late of Ballagawne in the parish of Michael deceased made oath on the
Holy Evangelists that said testator when of sound and disposing mind memory
and understanding duly signed and executed the same Elizabeth Daugherty the
executrix therein named is therefore sworn well and truly
to fulfil and execute said will according to law - to pay all just debts,
legacies and funeral expenses of said testator so far forth as the goods and
effects will extend and the law bind her - to return to the Episcopal
Registry a full true and perfect inventory of said goods and  effects with
an accurate account of her acts and proceedings in the premises when
thereunto lawfully required and to these ends she hath given pledges namely
Philip Daugherty and William Daugherty who have executed a bond to that
effect bearing equal date herewith

John Kinley Junior husband of Margaret Daugherty a legatee name in the
before going will appeared at the Registry and acknowledged to have received
and been paid the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds bequeathed to his said
wife in and by the said will and he the said John Kinley Junior hereby
discharges, exonerates and acquits the executrix Elizabeth Daugherty her
executors administrators and assigns of the
same and of every part thereof.  As witness his subscription this sixteenth
day of December one thousand eight hundred and fifty one (1851)

We the undersigned Vicar and Wardens for the time being of the parish of
Michael do hereby own and acknowledge to have received from Elizabeth
Daugherty executrix of the foregoing will of Wm Daugherty of said parish of
Michael deceased the sum of five pounds sterling being the amount of
a legacy bequeathed to the poor of said parish in and by said will.  And
we hereby forever exonerate acquit and discharge the said executrix her
executors administrators and assigns of the same and of every part thereof.
As witness our subscriptions this 23rd day of December one thousand eight
hundred and fifty one.

At a court holden at Douglas on the 21st day of October 1889
It appearing that the annexed paper writing date the 7th day of April
1849 was proved on the 30th day of May 1850 as the last will and testament
of William Daugherty late of Ballagawne in the parish of
Michael deceased who died in the year 1850 and that probate of such will was
granted to Elizabeth Daugherty the widow of the testator the executing
therein named  who has since departed this life without
leaving fully administered the estate of the said testator.
This court hath granted administration de bonis non (with his said will
annexed) of the  un-administered personal estate and effects of the said
William Daugherty deceased to Elizabeth Daugherty of Gordon in the
parish of Patrick (widow of Charles Daugherty deceased a son of the
testator) and accordingly she is sworn well and truly to administer the
personal estate of the said deceased left un-administered in terms of the
said will and according to law.
