the name of God Amen.
I Catherine Cannell widow of Charles Cannell deceased of Shoughlage in
the parish of Kirk Michael indisposed In at present as to bodily health
and considering the uncertainty of life my mind memory and
understanding being perfect thank God do make my last will and
testament in manner and form following
First I commend my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.
I devise and bequeath to my daughter Ann Corlett  alias Cannell the sum
of five shillings
I leave and bequeath to the poor of the parish of Kirk Michael the sum of
five shillings to be disposed of by the Vicar and wardens
Lastly I leave and bequeath to my daughter Catherine Cannell all the rest of
my personal property whom I nominate and appoint residuary legatee
as also sole executrix of this my last will and testament  in testimony
whereof I have subscribed  my name this the twenty seventh day of April one
thousand eight hundred and fifty 1850.               Catherine Cannell

At a Chapter Court holden at Kirk Michael on the 31st day of May 1850 John
Corlett and John Killip the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper
writing purporting to be the will of Catharine Cannell the
testatrix when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly
signed and executed the same in their presence as and for her last
will and testament.
Catherine Cannell the executrix therein named is therefore sworn well
and truly to fulfil and execute said will according to law - to pay all
just debts legacies and funeral expences of said testatrix so far forth as
the goods and effects will extend and the law bind her and to return to
the Episcopal Registry a full true and perfect inventory of said goods and
effects with an accurate account of her administration thereof when
thereunto lawfully required and to these ends she hath given pledges namely
William Killip and John Corlett  who have executed a bond to that effect
bearing equal date herewith                  Probatum est     T. A. Corlett
 
We the undersigned Vicar and Churchwardens of the parish of Kirk
Michael do hereby own and acknowledge to have received from Catharine
Cannell executrix of the foregoing will of Catharine Cannell late of
Shoughlage in said parish deceased the sum of five shillings being the
amount of a legacy bequeathed to us for the benefit of the poor of said
parish by the aforesaid will and we do hereby forever exonerate acquit
and discharge the said executrix her heirs executors and administrators
of the said legacy and of every part thereof - as witness our
subscription this twenty third day of December 1851.              Joseph
