Sarah Corlett Onchan 1850 To the Worshipful Thomas Arthur Corlett Vicar General of the Diocese of Sodor and Mann. The humble petition of Robert Corlett of Ballakaighen in the Parish of Conchan Yeoman. Sheweth, that on the twenty second day of January now last past petitioner’s wife Sarah Corlett otherwise Casement departed this life intestate, leaving your petitioner her husband and her two infant children Sarah Isabella Corlett and Emma Margt. Corlett her surviving. That it is expedient for the interests both of petitioner and his said children, that letters of administration of the Estate and effects of the said deceadant be granted to your petitioner as speedily as possible. Wherefore your petitioner prays a speedy hearing hereof and that your Worship may be pleased to grant to your petitioner (in trust for his said children the next of kin of the said deceased) letters of administration of the Estate and Effects of his said deceased wife. And petitioner will pray. Robert Corlett Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard before me at an Ecclesiastical Court to be held in Ramsey on Monday next at 11 oclock – whereof all proper parties to have due notice. Given this 2nd Feby. 1850 T.A. Corlett At an Eccl. Court held inCastletownRamsey the 4th Feby. 1850 Upon hearing this Petition in presence of parties it appears that Sarah Corlett wife of the Petr. some time ago departed this life intestate leaving your Isabella Corlett and Margt. Corlett her only Daughters and next of kin who are therefore Decreed joint Administrators of all and singular the Goods Rights Credits Chattels and Effects of the sd. deceased and the sd. children being minors the Petr. Robert Corlett their father is sworn in Trust well and truly to adminster the sd. Estate to pay all just debts and funeral expenses of the dec’d. so far forth as the Goods will extend and the law bind him and to return to the Episcopal Registry a full true and perfect Inventory of the sd. Estate with accurate account of his acts and proceedings in the Premises when thereunto lawfully required. And to these ends he has given pledges namely Edwd. Christian and Wm. Corlett who have entered into the usual Bond in presence of the Court. Decretum Est. T.A. Claim ) 100.0.0 Sterling – With Interest ) 9th “ Elizabeth Cubbon – Claim – With Interest 105.0.0 An Inventory of the Estate and Effects of Robert Corlett of Ballakaighan in Onchan farmer and his late wife Sarah Corlett deceased taken and made by the undersigned Jurors sworn for the purpose by Philip Cain Sumner of the said Parish of Onchan at the suit and instance of the said Robert Corlett Administrator of the Estate and Effects of the said Sarah Corlett – deceased. At KK Onchan this 8th February 1850. Inventory & Appraisement [Ten pages of Inventory followed, not transcribed] I Sarah Isabella Corlett one of the children of the above named Sarah Corlett dec’d. do hereby declare that I have audited the foregoing accounts and I do approve of the same and do hereby release and discharge my father Robert Corlett a Trustee of the sd. Sarah from all or any claims or demands I may have in respect of the sd. Sarah Corlett’s Estate and effects. Witnessed by This 11th December 1866 Richard Shimmin Sarah Isabella Corlett I Emma(?) Margaret Corlett one of the children of the above named Sarah Corlett do hereby declare that I have audited the foregoing ac.(?) and do admit them to be correct and I do hereby release and discharge my father Robert Corlett Adminr. of sd. Sarah from all claims or demands I may have on him or the Estate. Witnessed by this 20 March 186? Harris ...... ...... of Douglas WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese that this day granted Administration of all and singular the Goods & Effects of Sarah Corlett late of Onchan, deceased to Robert Corlett her husband in trust for her children & next of kin Isabella Corlett & Margt. Corlett both of whom are minors. AND WHEREAS Edward Christian of Ballakaighan in the Parish of KK Onchan andRobertWm. Corlett Tallow Chandler of the Town of Ramsey in the Parish of Maughold have agreed to become pledges to the said Robert Corlett for the due administration of the said Estate according to law. Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said Edwd. Christian and Wm. Corlett hereby bind and oblige ourselves and our Executors and Administrators as pledges to the said Robert Corlett for the due and faithful administration of the goods and effects of the said deceased according to law. And in his default we bind ourselves and our Executors and Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
