To his Worship Thomas Arthur Corlett Esquire,
Vicar General

The humble Petition of Wm. Gell
of the Parish of Rushen.

Sheweth
	That in or about the Ninth of February
last your Petitioners father William John Gell
of the .......... in the said Parish departed this
life intestate, leaving him surviving his
Widow Isabella Gell and his children
your Petitioner and John Gell Thomas
Gell and Jane Bridson wife of John
Bridson all of the said Parish.

That your Petitioner is desirous
that some person may be appointed
Administrator of the Estate and Effects of the
said John Gell.

Wherefore your Petitioner humbly
prays a hearing hereof and
Letters of Administration of the
Estate and Effects of the said John
Gell may be granted to your
Petitioner or some other proper
person or persons and he will
pray.

Ordered that this Petition do come on to be 
heard at an Ecclesiastical Court to be holden at 
Castletown on Friday next whereof all proper parties to have 
due notice.		Given this 9 April 1850

At an Eccl. Court held in Castle Town the 12th April 1850.

Upon hearing this Petition in presence of the parties or their advocates
and it appearing that John Gell in this Petition name some time
ago departed this life Intestate leaving issue John Gell, Wm. Gell,
Thomas Gell and Jane Bridson wife of John Bridson all
of whom are Decreed joint Admors. of all and singular the
Goods Rights Credits Chattels and Effects of the sd. decd.
and the said Wm. Gell is sworn in trust well and truly to
administer the sd. Estate to pay all just debts and funeral 
expenses of the decd. so far forth at the Goods will 
extend and the law bind him and to return to the Episcopal
Registry of this Diocese a full true and perfect Inventory of the
sd. Estate with an accurate account of his acts and
proceedings in the Premises when thereunto lawfully
required and to these ends he has given pledges namely 
John Taubman and Edward Curin who have executed the
usual Bond in presence of the Court.

WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted administration of all and
singular the Goods & Effects of John Gell late of
Rushen deceased, to Wm. Gell, John Gell,
Thomas Gell and Jane Bridson wife of John Bridson only children
and next of kin of the decd.

AND WHEREAS John Taubman of Port St. Mary
in the Parish of Rushen and Edwd. Corrin
of the How(?) in the Parish of Rushen have agreed
to become pledges to the said Wm. Gell for the due administration 
of the said Estate according to law.

Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said John Taubman
and Edwd. Corrin hereby bind and oblige
ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as pledges to the said Wm. Gell 
for the due and faithful administration of the goods
and effects of the said deceased according to law.  And in his default we bind ourselves and our Executors
and Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
Witness our subscriptions this 12th day of April 1850.
