Inventory not typed nor was the listing for creditors wishing paymentand it being
insufficient to pay them all - received a portion of whatthey were owed.
34 Rushen This is the last will and testament of me William Gawne of the Rowany in the parish of Rushen. I being of sound mind and memory at the making hereof. I devise to my granddaughter Ellen Kermode the whole of my interest in a certain house and premises situate in Port St Mary in the said parish the same being situate near the Pier and adjoining the properties of Edward Moore Gawne Esquire in the East and Mrs Beaument in the West. I give and bequeath to my daughter Isabella Kermode the sum of one hundred pounds to be chargeable on and payable out of all such lands and premises as may descend to my son John Gawne and his heirs and which are liable to the payment of legacies or encumbrances created by me such sums to be payable without interest on the decease of the survivor of myself and my wife Esther Gawne. After payment of all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses and of a legacy of one shilling to each of my children I give and bequeath to my said wife all my goods chattels effects and personal estate of every description and I nominate and appoint her executrix of this my will. As witness my name this 24th day of February 1853. William Gawne his mark Witnesses: William B. Alaton James Clugston his x mark At a Chapter court holden at Castle town on the 13th day of May 1853. Esther Gawne his widow renounced the burden of executrixship and requested that Administration with the said will annexed be granted to Henry Kermode in trust for her benefit. The said Henry Kermode sworn as administrater with pledges James Clugston and Port Iron and John Gawne of Rowany both of Rushen who executed the usual bond in presence of the court.
