GAWNE, Isabella 1853 Rus E 53 0106453 In the name of God Amen. I Isabella Gawne daughter of the late Edward Gawne of Kentraugh Esquire deceased being of perfect sound mind memory and understanding at the making hereof but considering the great uncertainty of this life do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say. I leave and bequeath to Francis Matthews of Douglas Esquire and Frederick Gelling of Castletown Advocate all and singular the whole of my monies goods property and effects to which I am or may be entitled at the time of my death to hold to them the said Francis Matthews and Frederick L. Gelling and the survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such survivor from and after the day of my death for ever. In trust nevertheless that they my said trustees shall and will pay my just debts and funeral expenses and place or continue upon sufficient landed security the remainder of the monies to me belonging and add the ---- such further sum as may arise form the sale of my furniture or effects not herein after bequeathed otherwise, and which monies are from time to time to be placed out and continued on security on the best and most approved rate of interest which can be obtained for the same and in the name of my said trustees until the following trusts are fully completed. That is to say, In trust of the several purposes and subject to the bequests following that is to say. I leave and bequeath to my former governess Margaret Smith an annuity of seventy pounds British currencyds to be paid her by my said trustees out of the interest to arise on my said monies for and during the term of her natural life. I leave and bequeath to the Vicar and Church Wardens for the time being of the parish of Kirk Christ Rushen the sum of fifty pounds British in trust for the poor of the said parish and which is to be paid at the expiration of twelve months after my decease and to be applied by them towards the relief of the poor of the said parish. I leave and bequeath to my dear sisters Amelia Pedder wife of Edward Pedder Esquire and Eleanor Jane Wulff wife of Gustavus Wulff Esquire my watch and trinkets in charge to hand them over to any child or children of theirs who may arrive at a proper age to take care of them and in case there shall be no child or children of theirs arriving at the age then the said watch and trinkets to belong to my said sisters and to be divided as they may agree upon. I leave devise and bequeath the whole of the rest residue and remainder of my said monies property and effects subject to the bequests aforesaid and to any fair and reasonable expenses attending the execution of these trusts to any daughters or daughters of my said sisters or either of them share and share alike, and in the event of their being no daughter or daughters of my said sisters to take under this bequest then and not otherwise to any sons or son of my said sisters share and share alike, and which share division is to be made upon their or any of them arriving at the age of twenty one years and not sooner and in the mean time and until they or any of them arrive at that age I require and direct my said trustees to pay and apply the interest to accrue or arise from the trust fund aforesaid (subject as before mentioned towards their maintenance and education respect and preference being always given to the daughters or daughter as before mentioned and in the event of there being no daughters or daughter then and not otherwise the said interest to be paid and applied to the maintenance and education of the sons or son and it is my will and desire that the said trustee shall and may with the sanction and consent of the mother of such daughter or daughters or in t he event of no daughters then of such sons or son lay out and expend such part of the principal money hereby bequeathed to them as may be deemed necessary to provide and secure a very superior education for such child or children.
