In the name of God Amen
Thomas Lawson of Droughad Fayle in the parish of Rushen make this his last Will 
and Testament.  He nominate and appoint his wife Catherine Lawson alias Kermode 
his whole and sole executrix of all his goods and chattels monies and effects of 
every description depriving all others that would claim any rights in his effect 
with five shillings legacy this 16th day of March 1855.

At a chapter court held in Castletown on the 30 th day of May 1855.
Richard Kneen and Henry Kermode the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper 
writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Thomas Lawson deceased 
having made oath upon the Holy Evangelists that said Thomas Lawson the testator 
when of sound mind, memory, and understanding duly signed and executed the same 
as and for his last Will and Testament in their presence.  Catherine Lawson the 
testator's widow the executrix in the said will named is therefore well and truly 
to fulfill and execute the same according to law.  To pay all the just debts and 
legacies and funeral expenses of said testator so far forth as the goods will 
extend and the law bind her, and also to return to the Archdeacon's Registry a 
full, true and perfect inventory of said estate with an accurate account of her 
acts and proceedings in the premises when thereunto lawfully required and to these 
ends she hath given pledges namely Richard Kneen of Cross - y - Caley and Henry 
Kermode of Ballafeson both in the parish of Rushen who have executed the usual 
bond in the presence of the Court.

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath day granted probate of the 
Last Will and Testament of Thomas Lawson deceased to Catharine Lawson
And whereas Richard Kneen of Cross Y Caley in the Parish of Rushen and Henry 
Kermode of Ballafesson in the parish of Rushen haved agreed to become pledges 
for the said Catherine Lawson for due administration of the said Estate according 
to law, Therefore know all men by these presence that we, the said Richard Kneen 
and Henry Kermode hereby oblige ourselves and our executors and administrators, 
as pledges for the said Catherine Lawson for the due and faithful administration 
of the goods and effects of the said deceased according to law. And in her default 
we bind ourselves and our Executors and our administrators to be answerable to all 
parties interested in the said Estate or the Administration thereof. Witness our 
subscriptions this 30h day of May, 1855
