		59

	This is declared to be the last will and
Testament of me John Sayle of Lhoarey in the 
parish of Andreas made declared and published 
this 30th day of November 1853 being of sound
mind and memory in the making declaring 
and publishing hereof.
First	I commit my soul to God and my body
	Christian burial.
Secondly	I leave and bequeath to my two sons
		Namely Daniel and Robert the sum of five
		Shillings each as legacy.
Thirdly		 I leave and bequeath to my grandson Daniel
		Philip Sayle (son of my son Daniel afsd). The sum
		Of forty pounds as legacy.
Fourthly	I leave and bequeath to my grandson
		Thomas Radcliffe (son of Thomas Radcliffe of 
		Ballaradcliffe) the sum of Fifty pounds and
		Also my watch as legacy.
Fifthly		I leave and bequeath to the poor of the
		Parish of Andreas the sum of eight pounds
		To be laid out at interest by the Church
		Wardens of the sd parish for the benefit of the
		Poor of the parish, the yearly interest to be distri-
		Buted among them in common with all the other
		Funds provided for the Poor in the Parish by the
		Wardens for the time being forever.
Sixthly		I leave and bequeath to my son John Sayle
		All and the whole of my live stock including
		And meaning to include herein all my Horses
		Cattle, sheep, pigs, and poultry which I may be
		Possessed of at the time of my decease, all
		My farming Implements whether carts, gears
		Plows, Harrows and all and every description
		Of Implements or articles made use of or
		Any premises as occupied by me at the time of
		My decease, also all my crops of corn, potatoes,
		Turnips or any other sort or description of crops
		Growing or having grown on my premises
		Of lands in Andreas at the time of my decease
		And also the whole of my household furnature
		As legacy.
Seventhly 	I leave and bequeath to my grandchildren
		John Wm Radcliffe, Daniel Radcliffe, Catherine
		Maria Radcliffe, Esther Radcliffe, Eliza Radcliffe
		Ann Jane Radcliffe and James Radcliffe in
		Equal portions share and share alike the 
		Sum of Two Hundred pounds to be paid
		To them and each of them at after and
		Upon the death of their mother unless
		She chooses to advance to her children
		Afsd their respective shares sooner. It 
		Being my will that she my sd daughter
		Jane wife of Thomas Radcliffe is to have the
		Interest of the sd sum of two hundred pounds
		During her life time unless she chooses to
		____ the same in her life time as before named.
Lastly		I leave all the rest residue and remainder
		Of my goods, cash, chattels, and effects including
		My property of every description wherein
		Before named of which I may be possessed at
		The time of my decease to my daughter
		Jane wife of Thomas Radcliffe of Ballaradcliffe
		And I do nominate constitute and appoint
		The sd Thomas Radcliffe executor of this
		My last will and testament _______ __
		Whereof I sd John Sayle subscribe my
		Name hereunto this 30th day of Nov 1853.

	A codicil to the will above mentioned John
	Sayle _____ and executed this 27th Feb’y 1855.
	I the above Testator John Sayle by this codicil to my
	Will revoke, alter and make void the part of my sd
	Will leaving and devising eight pounds to the 
	Poor of the parish of Andreas and I leave and
	Bequeath the sd sum of eight pounds to  my brother
	William Sayle who is infirm and afflicted
	And I do also direct and express of as one will
	That my Executor herein before named do pay to
	My s’d brother William the sum of five pounds
	A year during his natural life time and on
	All other _____, I do  approve ____ ___ __
	My afs’d Will dated the 30th Nov 1853 and I do
	Declare it as my will that this codicil ___ be
Held and taken as a part thereof witness my
Subscription hereto this 27th Feb’y 1855.

			At an Ecclesiastical Court held in Ramsey
					28th March 1856
John Corlett one of the subscribing witnesses to the first of the
Foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and
Testament of John Sayle having made oath upon the Holy
Evangelists that the said John Sayle the executing party thereof
Of sound mind duly signed and executed the same in his
Presence and in presence of William Radcliffe the other subscribing witness thereto
As and for his last will and testament and John Radcliffe on of the 
Subscribing witnesses to the second of the foregoing paper writing purporting to be
A codicil to the will annexed having made oath of the Holy Evangelists
That John Sayle the executing party thereto where of sound mind duly
Signed and executed the same in his presence and in presence of
John Corlett the other subscribing witness thereto and for a codicil
To the said will Thomas Radcliffe the Executor therein named is 
Therefore sworn well and truly to fulfill and execute the same
According to law to pay all the just debts, legacies and funeral
Expenses of the deceased as far forth as the goods will extend and the law
Bind him and to return to the Archdeacons Registry of the Diocese a
Full true and perfect Inventory of the said estate with an accurate account
Of his acts and proceed in the premises therein to lawfully required and to
These ends he has given pledges namely John Sayle ands Robert Sayle
Who have executed the usual bond in the presence of the Court.

Whereas John Sayle of the Lhaare Vain in the 
Parish of Kirk Andreas did by his last will and
Testament bearing date the 30th day of November
1853 with  a codicil thereto amongst other things
therein contained bequeath to his Grandchildren
John Radcliffe, Daniel Radcliffe, Catherine Maria Radcliffe
Esther Radcliffe, Eliza Radcliffe, Ann Jane Radcliffe,
And James Radcliffe in equal proportions, share and
Share alike, the sum of two hundred pounds, to be
Paid to them and each of them at after and upon
The death of their mother unless she chooses to 
Advance the same to her children. And appointed
His son in law Thomas Radcliffe of Ballaradcliffe
Above named Executor of such Will and Codicil
And whereas at an Ecclesiastical Court held
At Ramsey on the 28th day of March 1856
The said Will and Codicil were duly proved
And probate of the same granted to him in 
Due form of law and whereas the said Executor
Thomas Radcliffe has consented and agreed to
Advance to Daniel Radcliffe one of the above
Named legatees, who is leaving the Isle of 
Man and going abroad beyond the seas. His 
Proportion of share of the above named sum 
Or legacy of two hundred pounds upon
Receiving a receipt and discharge for the same.
Daniel Radcliffe one of the legatees above named
Do hereby own and acknowledge to have been paid
And satisfied by the said Executor Thomas
Radcliffe the sum of Twenty five pounds
Sterling in full payment satisfaction and
Absolute discharge of the aforesaid legacy
Of one eighth of the aforesaid sum of two
Hundred pounds as bequeathed by the said
Will and any interest due thereon. And I do 
For myself my heirs Executors administrators
And every person pretending to claim by 
Or under me exonerate release acquit
And discharge the said executor Thomas
Radcliffe his executors and administrators
The estate of the said deceased and every 
Person whomsoever of and from all further
Claim or demand on account of the 
Aforesaid legacy of twenty five pounds
Or one eight part of the said sum of two hundred pounds
And every part thereof and I do will and 
Direct that the said legacy be and do
Stand cancelled on the said original 
Will on Record as witness my subscription
This 26th day of September in the year
