43 Rushen In the name of God Amen. I John Gawne of the Howe in the parish of Kirk Christ Rushen being of sound mind, memory and understanding do make this my last will and testament in manner following: That is to say, I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann wife of James Clugston the sum of twenty pounds sterling as a legacy and to her daughter my granddaughter Ann now the wife of Mr Gracey the sum of ten pounds sterling as a legacy. To my daughter Jane Watterson wife of Thomas Watterson the sum of four pounds sterling as a legacy. And to my granddaughter Elizabeth Watterson the sum of fourteen pounds sterling and my cupboard as a legacy. To the poor of the said parish of Rushen the sum of one pounds sterling s a legacy. To my daughter Margaret Kermode wife of Henry Kermode my bees now in her possession and six pence as a legacy having already provided for her. To my grandson John Watterson I leave my watch as a legacy. And to my said daughter Ann Clugston I also leave and bequeath my feather bed with all belonging to it as a further legacy. And I nominate constitute and appoint my said son in law Daniel Watterson whole and sole executor and residuary legatee of all the rest of my money goods credits and effects. In witness whereof I the said John Gawne have hereunto subscribed my name this the fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty five.
