Lezayre 1858 33 This is the last will and testament of me John Corlett of the town of Ramsey(Tidewaiter) I leave and bequeath unto every person who could otherwise claim any interest in my estate one shilling legacy. I leave and bequeath unto my three grand children namely Christian Corlett, James Corlett and John Corlett children of my son James Corlett the sum of fifty pounds each payable at the decease of their father and not sooner. I leave and bequeath unto my son James Corlett his heirs executors administrators and assigns the sum of three hundred pounds bearing interest at the rate of five per centum per annum from the day of my decease. In trust nevertheless and upon the special confidence that he the said James Corlett his heirs executors administrators and assigns shall and will apply the interest and profits of the said sum of three hundred pounds and such portion or portions of the principal money as he and they in his or their discretion may think proper toward the maintenance education and promotion in life of the children of my son Edward Corlett deceased and for the use and benefit of his widow and on the youngest of such children attaining the age of twenty one years that he the said James Corlett his heirs executors administrators and assigns shall and will apply any surplus of the said principal money of three hundred pounds and interest if any thereon be for the use and benefit of the widow and children of the said Edward Corlett as my said trustee in his discretion may think proper and I order and direct ----- my said trustee shall not be accountable to any person for the manner in which he shall apply the said trust money as I have full confidence that he will use a proper discretion in the disposition of the same. I leave and bequeath a bed and set of drawers unto Elizabeth daughter of the said Edward Corlett and I leave and bequeath a book case and a clock unto John James son of the said Edward Corlett. I leave devise and bequeath unto my son James Corlett his heirs executors and assigns all the rest residue and remainder of my goods and chattels rights credits and estate of every description and I nominate constitute and appoint the said James Corlett executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former will or wills by me at any time heretofore made and declaring this to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this twenty first day of December one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven. Administration de bonis granted to Thomas Kneen Advocate Catherine Christian Corlett the youngest of children of Edward Corlett attained age twenty one years. And whereas the yearly interest has been regularly paid to the widow and several sums of the money advanced to her and to her son Thomas Corlett when he left this island amounting to one hundred and sixty pounds seven shillings. 22 Jan 1877 Elizabeth Corlett, Elizabeth Corlett Junior, Mary Jane Corlett, Catherine C.
