The last will and testament of Mary Corlett of the Village KK Michael
(widow)
I Mary Corlett (widow) of the Village of Kirk Michael being weak in body
but being of a sound mind and understanding and also being apprehensive of
the uncertainty of life do hereby make my last will and testament in
way and manner following:
First I commend my soul to God before whose judgment seat I must
soon appear and my body to a decent and Christian burial.
Secondly I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Mary wife of Thomas Quayle
(Joiner) now residing in Liverpool the sum of twenty pounds.
Also the bed and bedding bequeathed unto her in my husband John
Corlett's will.
Thirdly I will that my clock which was willed by my husband John
Corlett to my eldest son John Corlett go accordingly.
Fourthly I will also unto my grand children my son John's children
namely Mary Ann- Elizabeth - Jane - Sarah - John and Christian the sum
of two shillings and six pence each.
Fifthly I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Ann wife of Daniel Kelly
joiner the sum of twenty pounds also the bed and bedding willed unto her
by my husband John Corlett deceased.
Sixthly I also leave and bequeath unto my son William Corlett (joiner)
now residing in Liverpool the sum of ten pounds.
Lastly I leave my daughter Ann wife of Daniel Kelly before mentioned
whole and sole executrix  of all the rest remainder of my goods notes
and chattels dead or alive.
I declare this to be my last will and testament revoking and making void
every will that has been or may have been by me before this the 30th day of
November 1855.   Mary Corlett

At a Chapter Court held in Kirk Michael on the 28th day of October 1858
William Killip one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper
writing purporting to be the will of Mary Corlett deceased having made
oath upon the Holy Evangelists that said Mary Corlett the testatrix when of
sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and executed
the same as and for her last will and testament in the presence of the
deponent and of James Cleator the other subscribing witness thereto.
Daniel Kelly husband of Ann the executrix in said will named and in right
of his said wife is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute
the same according to law - to pay all the just debts legacies and
funeral expenses of said testatrix so far forth as the goods and effects
will extend and the law bind him - And to return to the Episcopal
Registry a full true and perfect inventory of said estate and effects with
an accurate account of his acts and proceedings in the premises when
thereunto lawfully required and to these ends he hath given pledges
namely William Killip and William Corlett  who have entered into and
executed the usual bond in presence of the court.
