This is declared to be the last Will and Testament of William Kaneen of “Shasey Vann” 
in the parish of Andreas made declared and published this 13th day of January 1858.

I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial –

I give leave and devise to my daughter Mary Ann Kaneen and to her Heirs and assignes, 
the one half or Moiety of my Dwelling House and the lands on which it stands with the 
Easement to the same belonging the same being part of the “Shasey Vaan” now in my 
possession –

I leave all the rest residue and remainder of my property goods and effects to my son 
George and my sd daughter Mary Ann, Also 

I nominate constitute and appoint them my sd son and daughter joint Executors of this my 
last will and testament.  In Witness whereof I subscribe my name hereto this 13th Day of 
January 1858 –

On the 29th day of October 1858.

William Lace one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper writing purporting 
to be the Will of William Kaneen deceased having made oath upon the Holy Evangelists 
that said William Kaneen the Testator when of sound and disposing mind memory and 
understanding duly signed and executed the same as and for this last will and testament in 
presence of this deponent and of James Fargher the other subscribing witness thereto, 
George Kaneen the Executor and Mary Ann Kaneen the Executrix in said will named are 
therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the same according to Law, to pay all 
the just Debts, Legacies and Funeral expenses of said Testator so far forth as the goods 
and Effects will extend and the law bind them, to return to the afreh deacon’s Registry a 
full true and perfect inventory of said estate and effects with an accurate account of their 
acts and proceedings in the promises when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends 
they have given pledges namely William Lace and James Kaighin who have entered into 
and executed the usual Bond in presence of the Court. –

WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Court of the Diocese hath this day granted Probate of the 
last Will and Testament of William Kaneen deceased, to George Kaneen and Mary Ann 
Kaneen 
AND  WHEREAS William Lace of Village in the Parish of Andreas and James Kaighin 
of the Town of Ramsey in the Parish of Maughold have agreed to become pledges for the 
said George Kaneen and Mary Ann Kaneen for the due administration of the said Estate 
according to law.
 Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said William Lace and James 
 Kaighin hereby bind and oblige ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as 
 pledges for the said
For the due and faithful administration of the goods and effects of the said deceased 
according to law.  And in their default we bind ourselves and our Executors and 
Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the 
Administration thereof.
