In the name of God Amen, I JOHN SKILLICORN, of the Ballabeg, in the 
Parish of Lonan do make this my last Will and Testament in the 
following manner:

I leave and bequeath to my children namely JOHN JAMES, ELIZABETH and 
ANN, the sum of One Shilling each.
I leave and bequeath to my wife, ISABELLA SKILLICORN and to her HEIRS or 
assigns all my right title and interest in and unto the DWELLING HOUSE where I 
now reside with the garden attached thereto the site of which was purchased 
from WILLIAM KELLY of Douglas and being a part of the BALLABEG in the Parish 
of Lonan, I also nominate and appoint my wife, ISABELLA SKILLICORN whole and 
sole Executrix and residuary legatee of all the rest of my Goods and Effects 
movable and immovable real or personal whatsoever belonging to me at present 
or may belong to me of whatever kind or nature.   And I do acknowledge this 
and no other to be my Last Will and Testament as witness my subscription this 
the TWENTIETH DAY OF JULY, ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY 
EIGHT, JULY 20, 1858.

At a Chapter Court held in Douglas, THOMAS WILLIAM KERRUISH
and JAMES CAIN, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper 
writing purporting to be the WILL of JOHN SKILLICORN, deceased having made 
Oath upon the Holy Evangelists that the said JOHN SKILLICORN, the Testator 
when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and 
executed The same as and for his last Will and Testament in their presence – 
ISABELLA SKILLICORN the Testator’s Widow the Executrix in said Will named is 
therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the same according to Law, 
to pay all the just Debts, Legacies and funeral expenses of the Testator so far 
forth as his goods will extend and the law bind her and to return to the 
Episcopal Registry a full, true and perfect Inventory of said Estate and Effects 
with and accurate account of her acts and proceedings in the premises when 
thereunto lawfully required.   And to these ends she hath given pledges, 
namely, THOMAS WILLIAM KERRUISH and JAMES CAIN, who have entered into 
and executed the usual Bond in presence of the Court.
