1860 To His Worship Vicar General Corlett The humble petition of Thomas [Smudged] Craine and Isabella Craine otherwise Skillicorne, his wife. Sheweth, that on the pet’n. of the said Isabella Craine therein called Isabella Skillicorn your Worship was pleased at an Ecclesiastical Court held in Douglas on the 11th day of Nov.lastlylast to grant administration to her of the Estate of her former deceased husband Thomas Skillicorn. That Petr. beg to state to your Worship that the said petition was presented in the name of the said Isabella Skillicorn in error, the advocate presenting the same not being aware that Petr. Isabella had intermarried into Petr. Thomas Craine, but supposing that she was still the widow of the said Thomas Skillicorn. That Petr. are desirous that the said letter of administration be recalled and rescinded and that letter of administration of the estate of the said Thomas Skillicorn be granted to the petitioner Thomas Craine. Wherefore Petr. pray a hearing hereof and that the said letter of administration be rescinded and recalled and that letter of administration of the said Thomas Skillicorn’s Estate be granted to Petr. Thomas Craine – and he will pray. for Petr. Rich. _________ At an Eccl. Court held in Douglas the 10th Feby. 1860. Upon hearing this Petition in presence of the parties or their advocates and it appearing that at Court held in Douglas on the eleventh day of November 1859 the petitioner Isabella representing herself as the widow of Thomas Skillicorn dec’d. obtained administration of the Estate and the Effects of the sd. dec’d. in error and therefore it has become necessary that the sd. administration be recalled and cancelled and that the Petitioner Thomas Craine ought to be sworn administrator of the sd. estate and the sd. administration is therefore recalled and cancelled accordingly and the sd. Thomas Craine is therefore is sworn well and truly to administer the Estate and effects of the sd. Estate dec’d. according to Law to pay all just debts and funeral expenses of the sd. dec’d. so far forth as his goods will extend and the law bind him and to return a true and faithful Inventory thereof with an accurate account of his acts and proceedings in the premises to the Episcopal Registry when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends he has given pledges namely William Cowin and Thomas Clarke who have entered into and executed the usual Bond in presence of the Court. Decretum Est. T.A. Corlett WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted administration of all and singular the Goods & Effects of Thomas Skillicorn. AND WHEREAS Thos. Clarke of Douglas in the Parish of Braddan and William Cowin of Douglas in the Parish of Braddan have agreed to become pledges for the said Thomas Craine for the due administration of the said Estate according to Law. Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said Thos. Clarke and W. Cowin hereby bind and oblige ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as pledges for the said Thos. Craine for the due and faithful administration of the goods and effects of the said deceased according to law. And in his default we bind ourselves and our Executors and Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
