1860 To his Worship Vicar General Corlett The humble petition of Margaret Cottier of the Parish of Lezayre Sheweth That sometime ago your Petitioners husband William Cottier departed this life having previous thereto executed a certain Deed dated the 23rd May 1857 in favour of your Petitioner. That your Petitioner is desirous of being appointed administrator of the estate of the said William Cottier with the said Deed annexed. Wherefore your Petitioner prays a hearing hereof and that your Worship may be pleased to appoint and swear your Petitioner administrator of the Estate of the said William Cottier with the said Deed annexed and your Petr. shall pray. T.A. Corlett for Petitioner Ordered that this Petition do come on to be heard at an Ecclesiastical Court to be holden at Ramsey on Friday the 17th February 1860 at 10 AM whereof all proper parties and persons are to have due notice. Given this 8th day of February 1860 T.A. Corlett At an Eccl. Court held in Ramsey the 17th Feby. 1860 Upon hearing his Petition in presence of the parties or their advocates and upon reading an Official Copy of a certain Deed of granted by the Decedent and Margt. his wife dated the 23rd May 1857 duly recorded by the Decedt. disposed of his property and effects in his life term I am of opinion that administration of the Effects ought to be granted to the Petr. as his widow under the Deed and in terms thereof and the same is therefore so ordered and accordingly. Corlett Know all men by these presents that William Cottier of the Claddagh of the Parish of Lezayre joiner and Margaret Cottier alias Kinrad my wife good causes and as hereunto moving but and more especially for and in consideration of the natural affection and peculiar regard we have and do bear towards our two daughters namely Margaret and Catherine Eliza Cottier who now lives with us and for in consideration of five shillings indeed now paid and the several covenants conditions and reservations hereinafter mentioned we the aforesaid William Cottier and the said Margaret Cottier my wife have given granted gift sealed(?) and sold and by these presents do hereby give grant gift settle and forever absolutely Estate and sell unto and upon our said two daughters namely Margaret and Eliza Cottier their and forever all and singular the money Gardens and land where we now live being part of the Estate of the Claddagh in the Parish of Lezayre and bounded on the East by the on the North by the Road Cadiz(?), from to Ramsey under the and by the road Cadiz(?) to the Mountains or the Commons and a of Meadow Land in the Parish of Lezayre and joins the Kent of the Kelld(?) as the on the next Thos. Quirk All the and the leading from Sulby Bridge to KK Andreas on the East. And a parcel of land in in the Parish of Lezayre and known by the name of the Crofts or who Wm. Kinrade and the rent of John Robert Kneale on the East and . Watson on the South and the of Thos. Caley on the West and north as the sd. land is bounded and fenced about with all Casements and Appurtenances as to the before mentioned Houses and Lands. The aforesaid two daughters Margaret and Eliza Cottier is to pay the rent of the aforesaid premises and all dues and duties annually incumbent of the aforesaid And to have and to hold unto them the said Margaret Cottier and Eliza Cottier these being Exectrs. Admors. and Assigns the said respective premises with all and same belonging forever share and share alike. I the said William Cottier and Margaret Cottier my wife do hereby fully and absolutely save and except to our proper use and best advantage during our natural life or the longeth liver of us the profits and issues and use of the before mentioned Houses and premises. And all the Goods and Chattels of what nature both moveable and immoveable will be at the longeth liver of us and after the death of the longeth liver of us, the said goods to go to our said two Daughters Margaret and Eliza share and share alike. I the said William Cottier and Margaret Cottier my wife is to have power at any time to take money or to sell any part or parts of the before mentioned premises to pay of or discharge any encumbrances that is on the sd. premises or to pay our lawful debts but not for any other purpose whatever. And for the true and faithful performance of all and singular the before mentioned Deed of Gift and Sale and conditions herein contained I the afore mentioned William Cottier and the aforementioned Margaret Cottier my wife do hereby bind ourselves our heirs Exrs. Admrs. and Assigns in the penalty of Six hundred Pounds to be levied and paid according to Law and Custom within this Sale. As Witness our subscription this the 25 day of May 1857. Cottier my X to to that is interested was before the signing hereof At Ramsey 18 July 1857 William Cottier and Margaret Cottier the executing parties to the before written Deed ( personally known to me) acknowledged the same to their proper Act and Deed. Before me Fredk. . Registry Office 6 June 1858 I certify that the foregoing Deed was this day at the hour of twelve oclock noon received by me at this office for the purpose of being Registered and Recorded according to Law. And that the same is entered to the Registration Book H.B. Watts Rg. At an Eccl. Court held in Ramsey the 17th July 1860 Upon hearing this petition in presence of the parties or their advocates and it appearing that William Cottier of the Parish of Lezayre some time ago departed this life but previously made and declared the foregoing Deed of Settlement with the consent of Margt. Cottier his wife which has been duly recorded, and bearing date the 23rd day of May 1857. Whereby he disposed of all and singular his Goods and effects to the survivor the and profits of the same and it having become necessary that administration of the personal estate of the deceased be granted to some fit and proper person with the Deed annexed Margt. Cottier his widow is therefore sworn well and truly to administer the same according to law and in terms of and to pay all just debts and funeral expenses so far forth as the Goods of decd. will extend and the law bind her and to return to the Episcopal Registry a full true and perfect Inventory of the same with an accurate account of her acts and proceedings in the premises when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends she has given pledges namely James Kelvin of Ginger and Hugh Kinrade of Ballamanagh in the Parish of Lezayre who have entered into the usual Bond in presence of the Court. Probatum et Decretum Est. T.A. Corlett WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted administration of all and singular the Goods and Effects with Will annexed of William Cottier. AND WHEREAS James Kelvin of Sulby in the Parish of Lezayre and Hugh Kinrade of Ballamanagh in the Parish of Lezayre have agreed to become pledges for the said Margaret Cottier for the due administration of the said Estate according to law. Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said James Kelvin and Hugh Kinrade hereby bind and oblige ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as pledges for the said Margaret Cottier for the due and faithful administration of the goods and effects of the said deceased according to law. And in default we bind ourselves and our Executors and Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
