              The humble Petition of
              Catharine Rigby of the Town
              of Ramsey.
 
Sheweth      That your petitioners husband Peter
                   Rainford Rigby sometime since
                   departed this life but previous thereto
                   duly made and published his Last 
                   Will and Testament in writing whereof
                   he appointed your petitioner Executrix.
 
                   That your petitioner is desirous
                   to take upon herself the ________
                   and execution of the said Will.
 
                   Wherefore your petitioner prays a hearing
                   hereof and that your Worship
                   may be pleased to grant probate
                   of the Will of the said deceadant
                   and appoint and swear your
                   Petr. Executrix thereunder in form
                   of Law and your petr. will
                   pray.

Ordered that this petition do come on to be 
heard at a Court to be holden in Ramsey
on Friday next whereof all proper
parties and persons are to have 
due notice.  Given this ______ day of
May 1860.
 
At an Eccl. Court held in 
Ramsey the 11th May 1860.
 
Upon hearing this Petition in presence of the parties 
or their advocates and upon examination of Phoebe
Rigby one of the subscribing Witnesses to the Will
of Peter Rainford Rigby decd. the other subscribing 
Witness Francis Rosalie Amos being off this Island
I am of opinion that the due execution of the sd.
Will has been proved and therefore that Probate
thereof should be granted as prayed for and the same
is so decreed and adjudged accordingly.

I Peter Rainford  Rigby of Ramsey in
the Isle of Man Esquire, do give devise
and bequeath all my real and personal
Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of 
what kind or nature soever in which 
I have any beneficial Interest unto my
dear wife Catherine Rigby.  To hold the 
same unto and to the use of my said
Wife her Heirs Executors Administrators
and Assigns according to the nature and
quality thereof respectively to and for her
own use and benefit absolutely.  And I
appoint my said Wife sole Executrix of
this my said Will and also Guardian
of my dear children during their respective
minorities.  And I authorize and
empower my said Wife to pay any debts 
owing by me or claimed from me upon
any Evidence thereof  she may think
proper, and to accept any security real 
personal or otherwise for any debt or claim
owing to or claimed by me, and also
to compromise any debt or debts owing to 
me taking less than the whole in full
satisfaction if she shall judge proper and
to allow such time for the payment
thereof as to my said Wife shall seem
reasonable and to refer to Arbitration any
disputes or difficulty that may arise
relative to my Estate or getting in the
same or in anywise relating thereto.
 
And I ratify and confirm the 
Settlement on my Wife and children bearing
date on or about the sixteenth day of October
One thousand eight hundred and forty seven.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand this thirteenth day of June
One thousand eight hundred and fifty nine.

At an Eccl. Court held in Ramsey 
the 11th May 1860
 
Phoebe Rigby one of the subscribing Witnesses to the 
foregoing paper writing purporting to be the Last Will
and Testament of Peter Rainford Rigby the Testator
having made oath on the Holy Evangelists that the said
Testator when of sound mind duly signed and
executed the same in her presence and in presence of
Francis Rosalie Amos the other subscribing Witness
who is off this Island as and for his last Will and
Testament.  Catherine Rigby the Executrix in sd. Will
named is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfill and
execute the sd. Will according to Law to pay all just debts
Legacies and funeral expenses of the said Testator
so far forth as his Goods will extend and the 
law bind her to return a true and faithful
Inventory of the same with an accurate account 
of her acts and proceedings in the premises to the
Episcopal Registry when thereunto lawfully
required and to these ends she has given pledges 
namely Joseph Mawby Esqr. and Edward
Quayle Christian Esq. who have entered into and 
executed the usual Bond in presence of 
the Court.

WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese 
hath this day granted Probate of the Last Will
and Testament of Peter Rainford Rigby 
deceased, to Catherine Rigby.
 
AND WHEREAS Joseph Mawby of Ramsey
in the Parish of Maughold and Edward Quayle Christian
of Poldhooie in the Parish of Lezayre, have agreed
to become pledges for the said Catherine Rigby for the administration
of the said Estate according to law.
 
Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said Joseph Mawby
and Edward Q. Christian hereby bind and oblige
ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as pledges for the said Catherine Rigby
for the due and faithful administration of the goods
and effects of the said deceased according to law.  And in her default we bind ourselves and our Executors
and Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
Witness our subscription the 11th day of May 1860
