       To His Worship Thomas Arthur Corlett
       Esq. Vicar General
 
       The humble petition of
       Margaret Corlett of
       Douglas Widow
 
Sheweth
       That John Corlett late of the Town
       of Douglas departed this life on the 
       ____ day of August 1854 having
       first duly made and published 
       his last Will and Testament
       in writing whereof he
       appointed your Petitioner
       sole Executrix.
 
       That your Petitioner
       is desirous of proving
       the said Will and of
       obtaining Probate thereof.
 
            Wherefore your
Petitioner humbly 
prays a hearing hereof
and that your Worship
may be pleased to
grant probate of
the Will of the 
said John Corlett
to your petitioner in due
form of Law.  And
Petitioner will pray.

Ordered that this petition do come on
to be heard at an Ecclesiastical 
Court to be holden at Douglas on
Friday whereof all proper parties are to 
have due notice.
            Given this 13 day of March April 1860

Upon hearing this petition in presence of the parties 
or their advocates and upon examination of John
Cain one of the subscribing Witnesses the Will of John
Corlett decd. I am of opinion that the due execution
of this sd. Will has been proved and therefore that
Probate thereof should be granted as prayed for
and the same is so ordered and adjudged accordingly.

WHEREAS the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted Probate of the last Will
and Testament of John Corlett
deceased, to Margaret Corlett.
 
AND WHEREAS John Cain of Ballamenagh
in the Parish of Onchan and William Corlett
of Douglas in the Parish of Braddan have agreed
to become pledges for the said Margaret Corlett for the due administration
of the said Estate according to law.
 
Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said John Cain
and William Corkill hereby bind and oblige
ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as pledges for the said Margaret Corlett
for the due and faithful administration of the goods and
effects of the said deceased according to law.  And in her default we bind ourselves and our Executors
and Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
Witness our subscription this 20th day of April 1860

In the name of God Amen
I John Corlett of the Town of Douglas
residing at Number Eight Windsor Hall
 and disposing mind,
memory and understanding  do ordain
and appoint this for my last Will and Testament
As follows - First, I commit my
Soul to God and my body unto a decent
Christian Burial.
 
Secondly  I leave and bequeath unto my beloved
          wife Margaret Corlett the whole of
          my House and Premises all and
          singular situate Number Eight
          Windsor Place in the Town of Douglas
          aforesaid in which I do now reside.
          With all my Shares and Interest in the
          Two Smacks Cruiser and Humility 
          of the Port of Douglas.
 
Thirdly   I leave and bequeath unto my Infant
          Son John the sum of Five Pounds
          and my Printed Books: the money to
          be paid (without interest) and the
          Books to be handed over to him on
          his attaining the age of Twenty one Years.
 
Fourthly  To any person that may claim any
          right to my Effects I leave one Shilling legacy.
 
Lastly    I nominate and appoint my wife Margaret
          Corlett Whole and Sole Executrix of this 
          my last Will and Testament and
          Residuary Legatee of the Remainder
          of my Goods, Cash, Credits and Effects
          moveable and immovable of what kind
          name or nature soever.  As Witness
          my Subscription this the Twenty ninth 
          day of October One thousand eight
          hundred and fifty three 1853.

At an Ecclesiastical Court held in Douglas
the 20th April 1860
 
John Cain one of the subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing
paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament
of John Corlett the Testator having made oath on the
Holy Evangelists that the Testator when of sound mind 
duly signed and executed the same as and for his last
Will and Testament in his presence and in presence of
James Lowe the other subscribing Witness Margaret Corlett
the Widow and Executrix therein names is therefore sworn
well and truly to fulfill and execute the sd. Will according
to Law, to pay all just debts Legacies and funeral
expenses of this Testator so far forth as his Goods will
extend and the Law bind him and to return a true and
faithful Inventory of the same with an accurate
account of his acts and proceedings in the premises
to the Episcopal Registry when thereunto lawfully required
and to these ends she has given pledges namely William
Corlett and John Cain who have entered into and executed 
the usual Bond in presence of the Court.
