1860 Episcopal To the Worshipful Vicar General Corlett The humble petition of Edward Carr Knubley and John Bateman Wilson of Whitehaven Esquires Executors of Mrs. Catherine Johnston late of Whitehaven Widow deceased. Sheweth That the commission your Worship was pleased to issue to Whitehaven on Petitioner’s application to have petitioner sworn Executor under the Will of the said Catherine Johnston for this Island has been duly returned duly executed as appears by the certificate of the Reverend John Jenkins annexed to the said Commission bearing date the 29th May 1849 & Petitioners being prepared with the necessary Pledges are desirous to have Probate of said Will granted & extended in this Island. Therefore Petitioner prays a hearing hereof & that your Worship may be pleased to grant Probate of the said Will in the Island to Petitioners & they will pray. Edw. C......... ........... for Petrs. Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at Douglas on Friday next with notice to parties. ......... this 11th March 1850 T.A. Corlett At an Eccl. Court holden at Douglas this 15th day of March 1850 Upon hearing this petition in presence of the Advocates of the Petitioners – and upon reading the Commission issued by this Court (dated the third day of February 1849) to the Decd. John Jenkins Clerk and Edwin Holwell Heywood Esqs. to swear the petitioners Edward Carr Knubley and John Bateman Wilson Executors of the Will of said John Jenkins one of the Commissioners of the sd. deceased and the Certificate ^ dated 29th May 1849 of having duly executed the same by Administering the usual oath annexed to the said Commission to them the sd. Edward Carr Knubley and John Bateman Wilson. And upon consideration thereof I am of opinion that administration of all and singular the Goods Rights Credits Chattels and Effects of the said deceased within this Diocese should be granted unto the sd. Edwd. C. Knubley and Jno. B. Wilson the Executors in due form of Law and the same is hereby so Ordered adjudged and Decreed accordingly in as full and ample a manner as if they had been personally sworn to execute the the Eccl.
