          Ballaugh 1861
The humble petition of Mrs Margaret Craine of the parish of Ballaugh.
Sheweth:
That the last to wit on the 17th day of August last past your petitioneršs
late husband Thomas Craine departed this life intestate leaving your
petitioner and six children
namely Ellen the wife of John Corlett, Margaret Crain, Ann Craine,
Thomas Craine, John Craine and Eliza Craine  him surviving under age except
Ellen the wife of John Corlett and Margaret Craine.
That your petitioner is desirous that administration of the estate of the
said Thomas Crain should be granted.
Wherefore your petitioner prays a hearing hereof and that administration of
the estate of the said Thomas Crain should be granted to your petitioner and

Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at a court to be holden at
KK Michael on Thursday the 26th instant whereof all proper parties
are to have due notice.

At an Eccl Court held in Kirk Michael the 26th September 1861.
Upon hearing this petition in presence of the parties or their advocates and
it appearing that Thomas Craine some time ago departed this life intestate
leaving the petitioner Margaret Craine his widow and six
children namely Ellen Corlett wife of John Corlett, Margaret Craine, Ann
Craine, Thomas Craine, John Craine  and Eliza Craine him surviving who
are therefore decreed joint administrators of all and singular the goods
rights credits, chattels and effects of the said deceased and the
petitioners is sworn in trust well and truly to administer the estate and
effects  of the deceased according to law, to pay all just debts and
funeral expenses of the deceased so far forth as the goods will extend
and the law bind her, to return a true and faithful inventory thereof with
an accurate account of her acts and proceedings in the premises to the
Episcopal Registry when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends
she hath given pledges namely John Craine of Brough Jairg Moar in the parish
of Ballaugh and Thomas Mylchraine of Ballamoar in the said
parish who have entered into and executed the usual bond in presence of the
court.

I Thomas Craine son of the late Thomas Craine of Ballaugh (Miller) do hereby
own and acknowledge to have received from Mrs Margaret Craine administratrix
of the said Thomas Craine the full and just sum of one hundred and thirty
nind pounds eighteen shilling being in full for my distribution share of the
personal estate of my late father the said Thomas Craine administratrix of
whose estate was granted to my mother the said Margaret Craine on the 26th
day of September 1861 and I do hereby release the estate of the said Thomas
Craine and the said
Margaret Craine from all further claims in respect thereof this 2

Margart Craine daughter spinster rec'd 139 lbs 18 shillings on  26 Sep 1861.
Whereas the late Thomas Craine of Squeen parish of Ballaugh departed this
life intestate on or about the 17th day of August 1861 leaving his wife and
six children surviving him namely Ellen the wife of
John Corlett and Margaret Craine both were of age the other four were minors
under age namely Ann Craine, Thomas Craine, John Craine and
Eliza Craine him surviving who are therefore decreed joint
administrators of all and singular the goods rights credits chattels and
effects of the deceased.  And his said wife presented a petition to the
proper court praying that she Mrs Margaret Craine widow of the said Thomas
Craine deceased be granted administration and the petitioner is sworn in
trust well and truly to administer the estate and effects of
said deceased accordingly and bearing date the 26th day of September 1861
and as the said Thomas Craine deceased was appointed executor by the late
Thos Corlett of Squeen parish of Ballaugh to his last will and testament and
bearing date 8th day of August 1848 as the same had not been fully settled
and closed during his life time and it was deemed that some fit and proper
person be appointed to administer the
unadministered part of the goods and effects of said estate and Mrs Margaret
Craine the aforesaid widow of the said Thos Craine deceased
was duly appointed and sworn administratrix of the estate of the said
Thos Corlett left unadministered by the said executor and she is to fulfil
administration de bonis non to the said estate and bearing date the 30th Oct
1862.   And as he the said Thomas Craine deceased who was left and appointed
also executor of the last will and testament of the late John Craine of
Squeen in the parish of Ballaugh deceased and the said will not being fully
settled and closed during the life time of said Thomas Craine deceased it
became necessary that administration de bonis non be
granted to some fit and proper person and the aforesaid Mrs Margaret Craine
widow of the said Thos Craine deceased was duly appointed sworn by the
proper court administratrix of the estate of the said John Craine left
unadministered by the said executor and is sworn well and truly to
administer the unadministered part of the goods and effects of the said John
Craine deceased and her appointment bearing date the 14th day of November
1862.   Now know all men therefore by these presents that we John Corlett
and Ellen Corlett alias Craine my said wife do hereby own
and acknowledge ourselves to have received and be fully paid in full our
share and portion in the aforesaid three estates at by and from the hands of
the said Mrs Margaret Craine above named and do desire that our
claims in the aforesaid three estates be and stand cancelled on the
Episcopal Registry as witness our signatures to this receipt and
discharge this the 27th day of April 1863.
