In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Creer of the Town of Douglas being of sound mind memory and understanding at the making and execution hereof do make and publish this paper writing as and for my last Will and Testament in manner following that it is to say – I leave and bequeath unto Ann Smith wife of William Smith of Douglas the sum of two pounds – I leave and bequeath unto my friends Matthias South Hampton of Southampton in the Parish of Braddan and John Cubbon of Ballavere in the said parish the whole of my household furniture. And as to the rest residue and remainder of my property both real and personal whatsoever and wherever the same may be I leave devise and bequeath the same unto my daughter Sarah Jane Fairburn to be paid over to her by my Executors hereinafter named free from the Control of her Husband and the receipt of the said Sarah Jane Fairburn shall alone be a sufficient discharge for the same. I nominate constitute and appoint the said Matthias South Hampton and John Cubbon Executors of this my Will hereby revoking all and every former Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this the eighteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixty four. Signed published and declared } by the said testator as and for } Thomas Creer his last Will and Testament } in our presence who in his presence } at his request and in presence of } each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses William Kewley John Leece Kneale At a Chapter Court held in Douglas on the 30th day of May 1865 – William Kewley and John Leece Kneale the subscribed witnesses to the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Thomas Creer deceased having made Oath upon the Holy Evangelist that said Thomas Creer the Testator when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and executed the same in their presence— Matthias South Hampton and John Cubbon the Executors named in the said Will are therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the personal estate and effects of the said deceased according to law by paying the just debts and funeral expenses of the said deceased and the legacies contained in his will so far forth as the said goods and effects will thereto extend and the law bind them and to return unto the [incomplete]
