84    Santan 1867
This is the last will and testament of Thomas Oates of the Post office in
the parish of Santan in the Isle of Man.
I leave and bequeath unto my son James Oates the sum of one pound as a
legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my son William Oates the sum of one pound as
a legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my son Robert Oates the sum of one pound as a
legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my son Thomas Oates the sum of one pound as a
legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my son John Oates the sum of five shillings as
a legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my son Henry Oates the sum of one pound as a
legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Ann Oates the sum of fifty pounds as a
legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Catherine Oates the sum of fifty
pounds as a legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto Margaret Taggart my daughter the sum of five
shilling as a legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Esther Kinvig the sum of five shilling
as a legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Cain the sum of ten pounds as a
legacy.
And I hereby direct that the foregoing legacies shall not be paid until the
death of my executrix hereinafter named.
I leave devise and bequeath unto my wife Catherine Oates all and
singular my dwelling house out houses, garden, yard and premises
situate in the parish of Santan at present occupied by myself bounded on the
north east by the property of Francis Matthews Esquire by the southwest and
Southeast by the property  of the late Frederick Brew Clucas Esquire, and on
the north west by the Castletown Road To Hold
unto my said wife Catherine Oates her heirs and assigns absolutely
forever.
And I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Catherine
Oates sole executrix of this my will and residuary legatee of all my
estate, real and personal not hereinbefore named.
And thereby declare this paper writing to be my last will and testament
hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time
heretofore made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this thirteenth
day of October, One thousand eight hundred and sixty six.
