45 Ramsey I Margaret Callow of Maughold Street in the town of Ramsey calling to mind the uncertainty of human life do make declare and publish this my last will and testament in manner following. 1st I commend my soul to God and my body to Christian burial. 2nd I leave and bequeath unto my niece Christian Quayle of the Kerrowmoor, Lezayre, the whole of my goods, wearing apparel, and all the cash found in my house at the time of my decease. 3rd I leave and bequeath unto my said niece Christian Quayle and to my niece Ann Bristow of Canada West in North America and to my niece Ann Campbell of Liverpool and to my niece Cathrine Booker of Birkenhead and to my nephew Thomas Jones of Castletown and to my nephew John Jones formerly of Castletown, the whole of my cash whether found in Bonds Promissory Notes, or the Banks, to be divided equally between them share and share alike. It is my wish that my funeral expenses and all other debts and expenses be defrayed (out of the said cash that I have bequeathed as above) and it is my will that if my nephew John Jones be dead at the date of this will that in that case his share goes to the executrix of my will. 4th I leave my said niece Christian Quayle to be executrix and residuary legatee of all my other effects. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this the twenty first day of March One thousand eight hundred and sixty eight. Margaret Callow my mark X Signed published and declared by the testatrix in our presence James Callow John Looney At a Chapter Court held at Ramsey on the 8th day of May 1868 James Callow and John Looney the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Margaret Callow deceased having made oath on the Holy Evangelists that said Margaret Callow the testatrix when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and executed the same as and for her last will and testament in the presence of James Quayle husband of Christian Quayle the executrix in said will named and in right of his said wife is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfill and execute said will and to administer all and singular the personal estate and effects of the said deceased according to law by paying the just debts and funeral expenses of the said deceased and the legacies contained in her will so far forth as the same estate and effects will thereto extend and the law bind him and to return into the Archdeacon's Registry a full true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said estate and effects with an accurate account of his administration thereof when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends he hath given pledges namely John Cottier of the Kerroomoar in the parish of Lezayre and John Kneale of Ramsey in the parish of Lezayre who have entered into and executed the usual bond in the presence of the court. Probatum Est Thomas C. Callow. Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of the Isle and Diocese of Sodor and Mann hath this day granted probate of the will of Margaret Callow late of Maughold deceased to James Quayle husband of Christian Quayle. And whereas John Cottier of Kerrowmoar in the parish of Lezayre and John Kneale of Ramsey in the parish of Lezayre have agreed to become pledges for the due and faithful administration of the said estate by the said James Quayle according to law, Now Know all Men by these Present, that we, the said John Cottier and John Kneale hereby bind and oblige ourselves, jointly and severally, and our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, firmly by these presents, as pledges for the said James Quayle that he shall well and truly administer, all and singular, the Personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased according to Law. And in his default, we bind ourselves and each of us, for the whole, our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, to be answerable and responsible to the said Court, and to all parties interested in the said Estate and Effects, or the Administration thereof in the place and stead of the said James Quayle.
