36      Ballaugh
In the name of God Amen.
I Daniel Craine of the Crawyn in the parish of Ballaugh being of sound
disposing mind memory and understanding do make declare and publish
this my last will and testament in the following manner namely.
First I commend my soul to God and my body to a Christian burial.
Secondly I leave devise and bequeath unto my grandson James Corlett eldest
son of Daniel Thomas Corlett of the Corvalley in this parish the
full amount of the principal sum of an assignment of a Deed of Bond and
Security assigned to me by the late Thomas Corlett deceased and secured on
the lands and premises of the Corvalley aforesaid together with all
interest, cost and charges which shall or may be due or owing thereon at the
time of my decease.
Thirdly I leave devise and bequeath unto my granddaughter Mary Ann
Killip daughter of John Killip of Jurby the full amount of the principal
sum of a certain Deed of Bond and Security secured on part of the
Quarterland of Knockold situate in this parish and being the  property of
James Corlet and Mary Corlett formerly Killip his wife and also the full
amount of another Deed of Bond and Security secured on certain intack lands
situate in this parish and being the property of William Stephen together
with all interest costs and charges which shall or may be due
and owing upon the said Deed of Bond and Security at the time of my decease.
Fourthly I leave devise and bequeath unto my granddaughter Isabella Corlett
daughter of aforesaid Daniel Thomas Corlett of the Corvalley the sum of
three pounds as legacy.
Fifthly I leave devise and bequeath unto my granddaughter Isabella
Craine daughter of my eldest son the sum of three pounds as legacy. Sixthly
I leave and bequeath to the Committee of the Wesleyan
Methodist Missionary Society to be applied by them in such way and
manner for the furtherance of the cause of the said Mission as the may
or shall see fit the sum of five pounds as legacy.
Seventhly I leave devise and bequeath unto my son Thomas my right, title and
interest to, in and unto all and singular the whole of my hay or
meadow lands and premises situate in the parish of Kirk Christ Lezayre and
commonly called and known as Fraygh E Smetter or some such name and as the
said lands and premises are at present held bounded and
known to have and hold unto my said son Thomas and his heirs and
assigns from the day of my decease absolutely and for ever subject
nevertheless to my said Thomas and his heirs and assigns paying to or
for the use and benefit of my son Robert (during his natural lifetime
should he survive me) who at present resides in America the annual or yearly
sum of eight pounds to commence or be reckoned from the day of his return to
this Island and as long as he continued or remains thereon yearly to his
decease and upon his decease and thereafter to cease and determine.  I also
leave devise and bequeath  unto my said son Thomas
and to my daughter Isabella wife of John Killip of Jurby my rights title
and interest to in and unto all and  singular that part or portion of my
intack lands and premises situate in the parish of Ballaugh aforesaid
called and known as the Close Moar and adjoining the lands of Ann Teare and
Daniel Corlett on the west the lands of the said Daniel Corlett on the north
the lands of John Killip on the East and the road called and known
as Juan Pauls Road on the south To Have and to Hold unto my said son Thomas
and my daughter Isabella and their heirs and assigns share and share alike
the said described lands and premises from the day of my decease absolutely
and forever.
Further I leave devise and bequeath unto my son Thomas the whole of my
household furniture of whatever kind and description whatsoever save
and except a feather bed and bedding which said feather bed and bedding
I leave and bequeath unto my servant girl Jane Gill but if my said son
Thomas choose to give to my said servant the sum of three pounds instead
thereof then and in that case my said servant is to relinquish
unto him all claim thereto.
Eighthly I leave and bequeath unto all persons who may have a right to
participate in this my last will and testament but  whose names are not
mentioned herein
the sum of one shilling each as legacy.
Lastly I leave devise and bequeath unto my said daughter Isabella Killip
the rest and reminder of all my moneys, invoices, Promissory notes,
Bonds and Securities Credits and effects of whatever kind nature and
description whatsoever or wheresoever and I nominate, constitute ordain and
appoint my said daughter Isabella my whole and sole executrix and residuary
legatee and this I declare to be my last will and testament hereby revoking
all and every other will or wills made by me in
testimony whereof I hereunto subscribed my name or make to my name this the
27th day of March 1868.                   Dan Craine.

At a Chapter Court held at Ramsey on the 8th day of May 1868.
John Callister and William Teare the subscribing witness to the
foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of
Daniel Craine deceased having made oath upon the Holy Evangelists that said
Daniel Craine the testator when of sound and disposing mind
memory and understanding duly signed and executed the same as and for his
last will and testament in their presence John Killip husband of
Isabella Killip the sole executrix in said will named and in right of his
said wife is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the said
will and to administer all and singular the personal estate and effects of
the said deceased according to law by paying the just debts and funeral
expenses  of the said deceased and the legacies contained in his will so
far forth as the same estate and effects will thereto extend and the law
bind him and to return into the Archdeacon's Registry a full true and
perfect inventory of all and singular the said estate and effects with an
accurate account of his administration thereof when thereunto lawfully
required and to these ends he hath given pledges namely William Teare of the
village and Thomas Craine of Dollaghmoar, both in the parish of Ballaugh who
have entered into and executed the usual bond in the presence of the court.
