In the name of God Amen.
I John Quayle of the Creig Moar in the parish of Kirk Christ Lezayre
calling to mind the uncertainty of this life do proceed, make, and publish
this my last will and testament in manner following.
Firstly I commit my soul to God and my body to a Christian burial.
Secondly I leave and bequeath unto my son Thomas the sum of five
pounds as legacy.
Thirdly I leave and bequeath unto my daughter Jane wife of James Kneale the
sum of ten pounds as legacy but the aforesaid legacies are not to be paid
until the decease of my dearly beloved wife.
Fourthly I leave and bequeath unto my said dearly beloved wife the
amount of a certain promissory note with all interest then due therein
payable to me by William Kaighin of the parish of Ballaugh shoemaker. Lastly
I leave and bequeath unto my  three sons namely William, Robert, and James
and my daughter Mary all and singular the whole of my right, title and
interest in and unto my estate of lands and premises (with all buildings
therein erected and all  appurtenances thereunto belonging) situate in the
aforesaid parish of Lezayre and commonly known and
called the Creig Moar estate.
And as the said estate is at present held bounded and known and meaning to
comprise the whole of my lands and premises wheresoever situate to
be jointly possessed by them at my decease and to the be held by them during
their natural life time share and share alike, and at the decease
of either of my said sons or my said daughter, the survivors are to possess
the share or shares of such deceased one share and share alike during their
natural life time and so on in like manner until the decease
of the last survivor of them and at the decease of the last survivor the
whole of my said estate is to go to  my heir at law then living.  Provided
always and be it understood that from the decease of my wife my aforesaid
sons and daughter and the survivors or survivor of them is to
pay to my eldest son the sum of three pounds yearly and every year
during his natural life time and I further nominate, constitute, ordain,
and appoint my aforesaid three sons William, Robert, and James and my said
daughter Mary my whole and sole executors and residuary legatees of this my
last will and  testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my
name or mark to  my name this the twenty ninth day of March one thousand
eight hundred and seventy one (1871)

At a Chapter Court held at Ramsey on the 26th day of May 1871.
Robert Kaighin and William Teare the subscribing witnesses to the execution
of the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will
and testament of John Quayle late of the Creig Moar in the parish of Lezayre
deceased having made oath on the Holy Evangelists that said testator John
Quayle when of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding duly
signed and executed the same as and for his last will and testament in their
presence and that they at the same time in the presence of the testator and
of each other subscribed the same in attestion thereof and Robert
Quayle,James Quayle and Mary Quayle three of the executors named in the said
will having by instrument in writing dated the 23rd day of day 1871
renounced the burden of the executorship of said will.
William Quayle the other executor in said will also named is therefore
sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the said will and to
administer all and singular the personal estate and effects of the said
deceased according to law by paying the just debts and funeral expenses of
the deceased and the legacies contained in his will so far forth as his
estate and effects will thereto extend and the law bind him and to return to
the Episcopal Registry of the Isle and Diocese of Sodor and Mann a full true
and perfect inventory of all and singular the said estate and effects with
an accurate account of his administration thereof when thereunto lawfully
required.
And to these ends he hath given pledges namely Robert Kaighin of the village
in the parish of Ballaugh and Thomas Kinrade of Killabrigga in the parish of
Lezayre who have entered into  nd executed the usual bond in
the presence of the court.  Probatum est  R. Jebb

Whereas John Quayle of the Creig Moar in the parish of Lezayre departed his
life about the 8th day of May instant having first duly made and executed a
certain paper writing in the nature of a will and purporting to
be the last will and testament of the said John Quayle and bearing date
the 29th day of March last past whereby he appointed four of his children
namely William Quayle, Robert Quayle, James Quayle, and Mary Quayle
joint executors.  And whereas the said Robert Quayle, James Quayle and Mary
Quayle have agreed to renounce the said Office of executors so far as they
are concerned in favour of the said William Quayle   Now the said Robert
Quayle, James Quayle, and Mary Quayle do hereby severally renounce the said
office of executors under the said paper writing dated as aforesaid
purporting to be the will as aforesaid of the said John
Quayle and do request that the said William Quayle be sworn executor thereof
soley.
As witness their names this the 23rd day of May 1871.

Teare the subscribing witness to the execution of the foregoing instrument
made oath on the Holy Evangelists that Robert Quayle, James Quayle, and Mary
Quayle the executing parties thereto severally and respectively signed the
same in my presence

Whereas John Quayle of the Creig Moar in the parish of Kirk Christ
Lezayre deceased did by his last will and testament dated the twenty nineth
day of March one thousand eight hundred and seventy one leave and bequeath
to his son Thomas the sum of five pounds as legacy said legacy not to be
paid until the decease of his wife as by said will with probate thereon
dated the 26th day of May 1871 doth appear.
And whereas the said Thomas Quayle son of the said John Quayle
deceased departed this life on or about the 3rd day of January 1877 leaving
his wife Catharine Quayle whole and sole executrix and residuary legatee as
by the last will and testament of the said Thomas Quayle doth appear.
And whereas Ann Quayle the wife of the said John Quayle deceased departed
this life on or about the fourth day of May last past.
Know ye all men therefore by theses presents that the said Catherine Quayle
executrix of the said Thomas Quayle deceased son of the said late John
Quayle of the Creig Moar in the parish of Lezayre do hereby own and
acknowledge to have received from William Quayle executor of the said John
Quayle the full sum of five pounds with all interest now due and
owing thereon being the amount of legacy bequeathed to his son Thomas
in and by the last will and testament of the said John Quayle deceased
and dated the twenty ninth day of March one thousand eight hundred and
seventy one as aforesaid and the said Catharine Quayle executrix of the said
Thomas Quayle doth hereby order and direct the said legacy to be
and stand cancelled on record.
As witness her name or mark to her name hereto subscribed.
This the fourteenth day of August one thousand eight hundred and eighty five
(1885).

Whereas the late John Quayle of the Creig Moar in the parish of Kirk
Christ Lezayre deceased did by his last will and testament dated the twenty
ninth day of March one thousand eight hundred and seventy one leave and
bequeath to his daughter Jane wife of James Kneale the sum of ten pounds as
legacy the said legacy not to be paid until the decease of
his wife as by said will with probate thereon dated 26th day of May
1871 doth appear.
And whereas Ann Quayle the wife of the said John Quayle deceased departed
this life on or about the fourth day of  May last past.
Know ye all therefore by these  presents that the said James Kneale the
husband of the daughter of the said late John Quayle of the Creig Moar in
the parish of Lezayre deceased do hereby own and acknowledge to have
received from William Quayle executor of the said John Quayle deceased
in right of his said wife the full sum of ten pounds with all interest now
due and owing thereon being the amount of legacy bequeathed to his said wife
in and by the last will and testament of the said John Quayle
deceased and dated the twenty ninth day of March one thousand eight hundred
and seventy one as aforesaid.
And the said James Kneale doth hereby order and direct the said legacy
to be and stand cancelled on record.
As witness his name or mark to his name hereunto subscribed this the
thirteenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and eighty five (1885).
