56    Lezayre
The last will and testament of ROBERT OATES of the Clanagh 
in the Parish of Lezayre who from due consideration of the 
uncertainty of this trasistory life do make dictate and 
publish this my las will and testament in manner following: 
First, I commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial.  
I leave and bequeath to any or all persons who are likely 
to precipitate in this my last will and testament the sum 
of two shillings and sixpence as legacy.  
Lastly, I nominate constitute and appoint my beloved WIFE 
CATHERINE OATES ALIAS ALLEN who and sole executrix and 
residuary legatee fo all the rest and remainder of my goods, 
cash, notes, credit and effects moveable and immoveable 
of whatsoever kind or description.  
In testimony which of I here unto subscribe my name as and 
for my last will and testament this twentyfirst day of 
January one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine - 1869.

At a Chapter Court held at 
Ramsey on the 10th day of May 1872
Thomas Caley and Daniel Caley the subscribing witnesses 
to the execution of the foregoing paper writing purporting 
to be the last Will and Testament of Robert Oates late 
of Clanagh in the parish of Lezayre deceased having made 
oath upon the Holy Evangelists that said testator Robert 
Oates when of sound and disposing mind memory and 
understanding duly signed and acknowledged the same as 
and for his las will and testament in their presence, 
and that then at the same time in the presence of the 
testator and of each other subscribed the same in 
attestation thereof.  
Catharine Oates widow the relict of the deceased, the 
executrix in said will named and appointed is therefore 
sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the said will . . . 
and to these ends she hath given pledges, namely 
William Allen and John Killip, both of Narradale in 
the parish of Lezayre who have entered into and executed 
the usual bond in the presence of the court
