This is the last will and testament of me Humphrey Joughin of the Parish of
Jurby, Smith, being of sound mind memory and understanding at the making
hereof.
I leave devise and bequeath to my brother John Thomas Joughin all and
singular that and those lands and premises to me belonging situate in the
parish of Andreas part of the quarterland of Balleigh and now in the
occupation of John Kelly and Robert Sayle hereby including and
comprising the whole of the lands and premises to me belonging situate
in the said parish of Andreas whether the same be quarterland or intact and
by whatever name or names the same may be called or known, also
all and singular that field or meadow situate in Jurby Curragh containing
an acre or thereabouts and adjoining the lands of the Thri vane and
Milleworrey to have and to hold the said lands and premises and every
part and parcel thereof with all ways water watercourses rights
members and appurtenances to the same severally belonging or in
anywise appertaining unto him the said John Thomas Joughin his heirs
and assigns from the day of my decease forever subject nevertheless to this
condition and reservation that he the said John Thomas Joughin his heirs and
assigns shall and will suffer and permit my mother Jane
Joughin to take collect and receive the rents issues and profits of the
whole of the said property during the terms of her natural life she
paying  the interest yearly and every year of such sums of money as and now
chargeable upon the said lands as mortgage or encumbrance.  I leave devise
and bequeath to my nephew Wm Quayle the sum of twenty pounds sterling as
legacy to be paid to him by my executor at the expiration of
six months from and after the decease of my said mother Jane Joughin
I leave devise and bequeath to my niece Frances Ann Quayle the sum of forty
pounds sterling as legacy to be paid to her by my executor at the expiration
of six calendar months from and after the decease of my said mother as
aforesaid and I do hereby declare and direct that the said
sums of twenty pounds and forty pounds devised to my nephew and niece as
aforesaid shall be and remain a preferable lien and claim upon the
herein before devised lands and premises as against all other claims and
demands save and except then  mortgage now legally affecting the same.
I leave devise and bequeath to my sister Jane wife of John McGhie of Douglas
the sum of five pounds sterling as legacy.
I leave devise and bequeath to my mother the whole of the residue and
remainder of all my other real and personal estate of whatever kind and
description the same maybe and wheresoever the same maybe discovered save
and except th whole of my Smithy stock tools and implements all of which I
hereby specifically leave and devise to my said brother John Thomas Joughin.
I nominate constitute and appoint my said brother John Thomas Joughin
executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and setting
aside any and all former wills by me heretofore
made and executed hereby declaring this to be my last will and
testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this the
twenty eighth day of April One thousand eight hundred and seventy three.
