In the name of God, Amen. I John Lawson 
of Rensell in the Parish of Lonan, having 
taken into consideration the uncertainty 
of this transitory life & the certainty 
of death being of sound disposing mind & 
memory do hereby make this my last will & 
testament.
First I commit my soul into the hands of 
the Almighty God who gave it & my body 
I recommend to the earth by a decent 
Christian burial accoirding to the discretion 
of my executor & concerning my worldly 
goods & effects I dispose of them in 
the following manner.
I leave & bequeath the sum of ten shillings 
to my son James Lawson
I leave and bequeath my watch unto my 
grandson Frederick Lawson (my son James’s son).
I leave and bequeath unto my son Thomas 
Henry Lawson & his heirs executors & 
administrators or assigns all & singular 
my right & title of the shedhouse together 
with the highest part of the garden, said 
part is to join the walk or path already 
formed from the street to the northwest 
hedge but the sewage ground is to be equally 
belonging to both the shed & the house in 
which I reside at the present time, said 
shedhouse & said pt of garden being situate 
in the Parish of Lonan & bounded on the North 
West by the property of Thomas Mylroie, on 
the North East by the beforementioned walk 
or path, on the South East & South by the 
property of Robt Williamson & on the South 
West by the highroad leading from Dgls to Rmsy.
I also leave to the said Thos Henry Lawson 
the house in which I reside at the present 
time together with the other part of the garden 
for the space & time of twenty years after 
my decease & after that time the premises 
mentioned in this clause is to become the 
property of my heir-at-law.
I leave the sum of one shilling to any 
person or persons who may lawfully have 
a claim in this my last will.
Lastly I appoint the beforementioned 
Thos H Lawson to be my whole and sole executor 
and residuary legatee of all my goods & effects 
be they of what name or denomination soever & 
I do hereby revoke and disannul all wills 
heretofore made by me declaring this and no 
other to be my last will & testament in 
witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed 
my name this twentieth day of May in the 
Yr of our Lord one thousand eight hundred 
and seventy four.
