84     Douglas/Braddan 1875

I Elizabeth Preston of No. 1 Shaws Brow in the Town of Douglas (widow) being
advanced in years but of a sound mind memory and understanding and
considering the uncertainty of this mortal life - do make publish and
declare this to be my last will and testament in manner following,
hereby revoking and making void any former will or wills heretofore
made or executed by me.
I  bequeath my soul to God and my body to decent Christian burial.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth alias Preston the sum of five
shillings.
I leave and bequeath to Elizabeth Cowin daughter of James Cowin of Camlorg a
good sized chest the largest in the house.
I leave and bequeath to my son John Preston a policeman in Liverpool all the
rest residue and  remainder of all my goods, cash, and effects of whatever
nature or description, moveable, or immoveable, and do hereby nominate
constitute and appoint him the said John Preston whole and
sole executor of all my goods cash and effects.  And I also leave six
pence legacy to any person claiming any right or title in my last will and
testament this 18th day of April one thousand eight hundred and seventy

The humble petition of John Preston of the town of Liverpool.
Sheweth:  That your petitioner's mother Elizabeth Preston departed this life
on or about the 10th day of April 1875 having first duly made and executed
her last will and testament in writing whereof she appointed
your petitioner executor.
As petitioner resides off this island he desires to renounce the
execution of the said will in order that administration with the will
annexed of the said Elizabeth Preston may be granted to James Cowin of the
parish of Braddan.
Wherefore petitioner pray a hearing hereof and that your Worship may be
pleased to received the said will and to grant administration with the
said will annexed unto the said James Cowin and petitioner will pray.

Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at an Eccl Court to be
held at Douglas on Thursday the 29th day of April 1875 at 10 o'clock in the
forenoon where of all proper parties and persons are to have due and lawful
notice.
