I Richard Preston of Ballacurry in the parish of Rushen being of sound
disposing mind memory and under  standing do make my last will and testament
in manner following that is to say I leave to my wife
Isabella Preston the interest of all my moneys and some of the
principal if she shall require it if she be the last liver and the goods
that
is mine in the house but what will before mentioned of my executor.
I leave my son William twenty pounds British and all the moneys that I
have given him.
I leave my daughter Isaballa wife of Thomas Qualtrough the sum of
fifty pounds British.
I leave my daughter Jane wife of Thomas Gawne the sum of one hundred pounds
British.
I leave my daughter Esther wife of Joseph Leech the sum of fifty pounds
British.
I leave my daughter Ann wife of Richard Costain the sum of sixty pounds
British.
I leave my daughter Margaret wife of John Nelson the sum of sixty
pounds British and she is not to receive it but as my executor may think
proper to give.
I leave my grandson Robert Christopher's son the sum of fifty pounds
British.
I leave my grandson William Christopherıs son the sum of fifty pounds
British when he comes to the age of twenty one years.
I leave my grandson Richard Watterson the sum of twenty pounds British the
said money being half of the mortgage which I have in Charles
Converys House and property and he is not to get the principal until he
comes to the age of twenty one years.
I leave my grandson John Watterson the sum of twenty pounds British being
the other half of the mortgage which I have in the said Charles Converys
House and property and he is not to get the principal until he comes to the
age of twenty one years.
I leave my grandson William Richard, William's son the sum of twenty pounds
British.
I leave my son Christopher all my goods that is in the kitchen and the
brass framed looking glass which is in the parlour.
I also nominate constitute and appoint him whole and sole executor and I
leave  the remaining part of my money and the whole of my goods and effects
of whatsoever denomination or description excluding any other person that
might have right and to before mentioned with two shillings legacy.
In testimony there I hereunto subscribed my name this the eighteenth
day of May one thousand eight hundred and eighty three.

At an Eccl Court held at Castletown on the 23rd day of November 1883.
Christopher Preston sworn executor with pledges being John Radcliffe
and George Bradshaw who have entered into and executed the usual bond
in the presence of the court.
The humble petition of Isabella Preston of Ballacurry in the parish of
Rushen widow and of Christopher Preston of the same place.
Sheweth:  That Richard Preston of Ballacurry aforsd husband of your
petitioner Isabella departed this life on or about the 19th day of May
1883 having first duly made and published his last will and testament
dated the 18th day of May 1883 whereof he appointed our petitioner
Christopher Preston executor.
That it is necessary that the said will should be proved.
That the only next of kin of the said deceased besides your petitioners
are his son William Preston and his daughter Isabella wife of Thomas
Qualtrough, Jane wife of Thomas Gawne, Esther wife of Joseph Leach,
Ann wife of Richard Costain, and Margaret wife of John Nelson.
Wherefore our petitioners humbly pray a hearing hereof and that your Worship
may be pleased to grant probate of the said will to the said Christopher
Preston and that your petitioner may have such other relief as is meet and
they will pray.   James S. Gell for the petrs.
The deed made between Isabella Preston of Ballacurry in the parish of Rushen
widow of Richard Preston deceased of the one part and Christopher Preston of
the same place executor of the will of the said Richard Preston of the other
part.
Whereas the said Richard Preston did on the 18th day of May 1883 make his
last will and testament whereby he bequeathed to the said Isabella Preston
as follows "the whole interest of all my moneys and some of the principal if
she shall need it if she be the last liver and the goods that
are mine in the house" And whereas the said Richard Preston did further make
bequest of various sums of money and did appoint his son Christopher Preston
his executor and left to him "the remaining part of
my money and whole of my goods and effects of whatsoever
denomination or description".
And whereas the said Isabelle Preston is desirous and intends to take under
the said will instead of claiming her right as widow of the said Richard
Preston.
And whereas the said will has not yet been proved.
Now this deed witnesseth that the said Isabella Preston doth hereby declare
that she elect to take the provision made for her by the said will
in lieu of and in full satisfaction for rights as widow in the personal
estate of the said Richard Preston and she the said Isabella Preston in
consideration of the sum of five shillings to her paid by the said
Christopher Preston executor as aforesaid doth hereby relinquish and release
to him all her right and interest in the said estate of the said Richard
Preston otherwise than under the said will.
In witness whereof the said Isabella Preston hath hereunto subscribed
her name the 22nd day of November 1883.    Issaballa Preston her mark X
