             The humble petition of 
             Frederick Lawson of 
             Mumps Bazaar Oldham in 
             the County of Lancaster 
Sheweth:  
     That James Lawson late of Laxey Glen in 
     the Parish of Lonan departed this life 
     on or about the 31st day of May 1888 
     having first made & published his last 
     will & testament in writing being dated 
     the 23rd day of May 1888 whereby he 
     appointed your petitioner his sole Executor.
     That your petitioner is desirous that 
     probate of the said will should be 
     granted him ...... etc. etc.


In the name of God Amen, I James Lawson 
of Laxey Glen in the Parish of Lonan, 
miner, being of sound mind, memory & 
understanding do make this my last will & 
testament in manner following hereby 
revoking & cancelling all wills heretofore 
made by me. 
First I leave devise & bequeath to my wife 
Mary Ann Lawson the whole of my real and 
personal estate of whatsoever nature or 
description during her natural lifetime 
in case she survives me; and upon the decease 
of my said wife or in case I survive her 
upon my decease the whole of my real & 
personal estate of whatsoever nature or 
description shall be divided between my 
children or their heirs-at-law.
I also hereby nominate constitute & appoint 
my son Frederick Lawson sole Executor of 
this my last will & testament & have 
hereunto subscribed my name this twenty-third 
day of May in the year one thousand eight 
hundred and eighty eight.
