Archdeacon Will 1663A #45 Maughold will of John Christian of Lewaigue, died 6 January 1663/4:
Summary: wife is alive but dead by 20 August 1676, son William Christian (his son Robert); son James Christian, son Ewan; dau Ann (married to William 
Callow of Ballafayle on 25 May 1653 Maughold), dau Mary (married xxxx Stoddart, in Ireland in 1670), dau Catharine (probably married); dau Isabel (probably 
married), dau Elizabeth/Bessy (married to Robert Callow on 7 April 1665 Maughold); also: witnesses: John Callow & John Cowle; pledges: William Christian & 
Robert Christian; also Robert Christian general sumner entered a claim for £4 - 10s.
Maughold parish register: Jo: Xpian, Laage, buried 19 Jan 1663/64.

Note that Lewaigue is pronounced 'layge', and means 'slope creek' or 'lee-side creek'; in the will; corn planted along the 'river' is used to discharge 
the Lord's rent and wages of the servants.
