Archdeacon Will 1665A #052 Malew will of Mrs. Elizabeth Christian alias Cockshutt of Ronaldsway, dated 14 November 1665, buried 19 November 1665, 
she is from Great Harwood per Manx Museum reference 9381, page 19 & also had land in Walton & Sparth, both in Lancashire, England:  
Summary: husband William Christian (Iliam Dhoan, Receiver General) is dead (died January 1662/3), son & heir Mr George Christian, son Mr Ewan Christian, 
brother in law Mr John Christian (Deemster), nephew in law Mr Edward Christian (Deemster), brother in law Ewan Curghey of Ballakillingan, nephew in law 
Mr Ewan Christian, Samuel Robinson minister, witnesses: Thomas Parr (who was sick at probate) & Thomas Woods, also, Mrs Ann Sharples alias Dawson [widow of 
Comptroller & Deputy Governor John Dawson who died December 1652 Malew, Episcopal Will] entered a claim for £40; Mr Edward Robinson of Castletown entered 
a claim for £6.

Will of husband, the lack of one: ArW 1663A #062 Malew will of Mr. William Christian (Illiam Dhoan) of Ronaldsway, Malew, letter dated 2 July 1664 regarding 
lack of a will from William, wife is alive, as are children: To Ro: Quayle Sumner of KK Malew these to be carefully and duly e----------ted: Dat: July ye 
2th 1664: Wheras there is noe will as yet exhibited to ye Spirituall Court of Mr. Wm Christians of Randlesway either by his wife or any of his children 
hithertonotwithstanding severall complaints of creditors that are unsatisfied and ye goods imbezzled therefore these are to will and require you before you 
sleep this night to goe and charge by vertue of this inclosed toaken beside ye notice yt is given by this prcept the wife of ye sd Mr Wm Christian and his 
children  In ye Island to appeare before our Reverend Ordinarie on Munday next at KK Michell by one of ye clock in ye afternoone with an Inventory and yt 
will to be exhibited in Court, otherwise ye Court is to proceed to adeeree according to law and all his children as aforesd to be there to take 
administration or to refuse it & yourselfe to returne this prceipt ye sd day with affidavid of their personall charge & this upon yours and their perils.

2 Jan 1662: Mr. William Christian of Ronaldsway (late Receivr: Genl:) was shot to death at Hangoe Hill the 2nd of January. He died most penitently and most 
courageously, made a good end, prayed earnestly, made an excellent speech, and the next day was buried in the Chancel of Kk Malew. (See Canon E. H. Stenning's 
book, beginning of  p.43 for what is probably an accurate account of what led up to this).
From website of Frances Coakley, early 2000: Mrs Hicks Beach (descendant of family) in 'Yesterdays behind the door' Liverpool: University Press 1956 states 
that William was third surviving and youngest legitimate son of Deemster Ewan Christian who was married off to Elizabeth daughter of George Cockshutt whose 
family owned property at Great Harwood near Kirkham Lancashire and who came with a £600 dowry. Christian properties at Freckleton and Wharton (which had 
embryo coal pits) were settled on the couple and the dowry used to buy a house at Nether Sparth where the couple settled and ...

alias Callister was the midwife, per March 1664/5 Court proceedings, George did not appear in Court to answer the charge/

   Ewan, John, Roger, Amelia [eldest dau], Isabel, Mabel), Son William (son of Jane Woods, left Glenlough, Marown), son John (son of Jane Woods, to inherit 
   Glenlough if bro Wm dies), dau Jane (dau of Jane Woods), dau Ellinor ('weak' dau of Margaret Elletson/Ellison, in KK Marown), Margaret Fox (daughter of 
   Ferdinando Fox & Jane Woods [mistress of Ewan, had 3 children by him: William, John, Jane]), dau Jane in Maughold (has children), son David (has children 
   including Mary married to Daniel Teare in 1654), widow dau Isabel Christian in Bride, granddau Elizabeth Huddleston, 'supposed son Henry' (left 25£), 
   nephew William Quayle, son in law Mr Ewan Curghey (married Margaret Christian, they have children), cousin Richard Tinsley/Tyldesley, cousin Erasmus 
   Townson; also pledges: Mr Richard Stevenson [his son Richard married Isabel Christian dau of John Christian heir of Milntown], Mr William Huddleston [he 
   married Elizabeth Radcliffe daughter of Margery Christian dau of Deemster Ewan], Mr Ed Christian,  William Gelling of KK Braddan (claim for 4£), and

father Mr Wm Christian Receivr agst ye execr of Mrs Eliz: Parre for ye summe of 21£ 8s, 16£ 8s wherof beinge due for 2[?] yeares rent to ye honrble Lord of 
this Isle and the other 5£ beinge lent money for all wch he craveth tryall accordinge to Law.

November 14th 1665 The last will or testament of Mrs Eliz: Christian of Rono= ldsway, who first comitted her soule to God and her bodie to Xs= -sian buriall; It: to the poore after the discrecon of her sonn Mr. George Christian; It: wheras it pleased God to lay his af= =flicting hand upon her husband, and herselfe, for yt through ye great troubles that befell them was brought into such debts as that she cold not tell what will to make because she cold not tell whether or noe she had any debtles goods to dispose of; Therefore she did will and require her sonn Mr George Christian (as he ex= =pected her blessing) to be good to all his brethren (especially to his brother Mr. Ewan Christian) and to help them to som livelie= =houd whereby they might subsist; It: wheras she would faine have Creditors payd accordinge to Law, and would have her sonn Mr. George to pay the sd Creditors as aforesaid, she therefore constituted him the sd Mr. George Christian her lawfull Executor and to payall debts soe farre as the goods will extend, upon wch consideration she bequeathed to her sayd sonn all her right, Title, interest, and propriety she had, hath, ought, or should have, to, or in all her estate of Ronoldsway; the Milne of Corney; house, or houses with theire Apurtenances of Duglas and Castletowne in this Isle, And of Walton and Sparth in England, and whatsoever else doth appertane, or in anywise belonge to her;
