?Father & stepmother:1634 note found amongst the Archdeacon Wills 1637, written 31 March 1634 by Philip Crynilt, minister, regarding Phinlo Martin son of 
deceased Phinlo Martin & his wife Joney Cleator & their son in law William Kneale [widower of Christian Martin, Episcopal Will]: [edge, fold]---- and dutie 
remembered etc. Mr Vicr Generall according to direcscians I have been at the house of Finlo Martine to looke upon the Division of that goods and Finlo 
Martin did raile at me and sayd it was for meat that I cam to the house and stand out that he will not give a Divisione in his fathers clothes and Wm 
Knealle did pay ij[2] pts of the dutie unto the Clarke nor yet in corne for the corne I thinke is due to her as she is exectr and xxxxx comuting. I pray you 
for Gods sake take sume good course wth them for she hath payd ij parts of all debts for I will have and thus commiting you to God I rest, yours to command

daughter of William, note also that William had remarried to Isabel Kelly: Summary: William's 1st wife Christian Martin dead (Episcopal will, she left £4 to 
her daughter, who soon after died) & 2nd wife Isabel Kelly/IneChelley is alive, dau Catharine Kneale dead, son John Kneale, appraisors of the inventory & 
witnesses: John Quark & William Martin & Patrick Kneale & Ewan Blackburn sumner, other witnesses: Phelomy/Fellomy O'Neale/Kneale & John Crebbin & John 
Crebbin senior & Christian Kneale (married): July the 10th 1653: Joh: Quarke sworne & examined saith, yt he remember not, whether there was any goods 
delivered out of the Inventory of Christian Martin disceased, yea or noe, in lue of the 4£ yt shee bequeathed to her daughter Willm: Martin beinge another 
of the pricers of the said goods saith as above said in every pticuler. Pat: Kneele sworne & examined saith yt as Willm Kneele was bemoneinge himselfe (to 
him ye said Pat) yt he was much indebted said to me, I am much in debte yt I was deliver you ye goods yt is due to my sonne for you are one of the sureties 
in the Spiritual book: & the said Pat: askeinge him how much he ought to his sonn he answered yt it was 8£ odd money, & further saith yt Issabl Inecheley 
said in hir house to him ye said Pat: & his wiffe yt  her husband Willm Kneele tould her yt he had as much goods of his sonne John: Kneele in his hands 
as came to 8£ eleaven shillings & further cannot depose. Ffellomy Oneele sworne & examined saith yt Willm Kneele of brines[?] tould him yt there was 8£ 
odd moneys in his hands yt was due to his sonn John Kneele; & further saith yt Issable Inecheley tould him ye same words, & further cannot depose. John 
Crebbin sworne & examined saith yt, Issable Inecheley tould him within this moneth in the prsence of John Kneele yt there was due to him the said John 
Kneele from his father by the death of his mother 8£ eleaven shillings; & yt he needed not to looke for any coppies, for he knew yt there was noe more 
due to him but as above said, as her husband tould her. John Crebbin senior sworne & examined saith yt at several times the said Willm Kneele tould him yt 
he ought eight pounds & odd moneys to his son John Knelle, & Christian Kneele sworne & examined saith yt shee hard the said Willm Kneele tould her & husband 
yt there was 8£ & odd money due to his sonn John, & further saith yt she hard Issable Inecheley wife to him the said Willm say, yt her said husband tould 
her, yt there was 8£ & eleaven shillings due to his sonn Jo: Kneell from him by the death of his mother & sister. Ewan Blackburne sworne & examined saith, 
yt he being Sumner yt yeere yt ye goods of Chatherin Martin was priced: saith yt there was as much goods left out of the Inventory & as came to 4£ wch was 
due as a legasie to his daughter Christian Kneele & was delivered to Willm: Kneele. And wheras nether will nor inventorie did declare in whose custotie the 
4£ porcon that Wm Kneales wyfe Christian Martin left to her doughter, and by reason nether will nor invent: did secure the sd 4£, authoritie was granted 
to fynd out the truth in the caise concerning the sd 4£, soe ----[in fold] Sumnr having receved order concerning the same, found by examination the goods 
to be as is specified on the other syd. Ewan Blackborne doeth confese that he was in place, and Sumnr when theire was goods wurth 4£, delivered to Wm Kneale 
in his daughters porcon according to the wyves will, and this I do accnowledg and will depose the same to be true when ocation secues this 9th of Jul: 1653,

March ye 29th 1666 In the name of God amen, I Edmond Kneele sick in body -------[torn edge] in minde & of pfect memorie thanks be to God, doe make -------[torn edge] last will & Testament in manner & forme followinge: ffirst I bequeath my soule to God & my body to Christian buryall It: to leave to the poore 1 boule of high corne, at my death & a boule more at All halladtide; It: to my sister I-------[torn edge] 1 boule of high corne, legasie all wch in my brother son hands; It: I leave to my brother John Kneele ye moneys due to me by my mothers will, & is in ----[torn edge] owne hands, & allso wt is due to me from Willm Standish as is expressed in my said mothers will legasie; It: to my brother Willm in I-------[torn edge] one yeeres wages of mine yt is in my said brother John Kneele hande 2 yeere wages more & a halfe a yeeres wages: beinge 15s p yeere wch I beq-------[torn edge] to my execurs: It I leave to my Couzen John Kneele 15s yt is in his owne hands as legasie; It: to my halfe sister Margt Kneele 1 sheepe & 1 lambe, yt is due to me from herselfe; It: I leave to Sir John Huddlestone a sheepe; It: I constitute & ordaine my couzen John Kneele (with whom I now live, & hath looked to mee in my sickness) my sole executor of all the rest of my goods wtsoever moveable & unmoveable: It: I declare yt yr is -------[torn edge] to me from the execurs & wife of Willm : Sayle ....14s & 4d The executor sworne in Court testes John Huddlestone accordinge to law John Sayle his mark X pbatum et solvit 1s The Invent: to be brought in against ye next Court day sub paena xs[10s] ad usum domini: The Invent of the said testator given in by the executor being 1 cow & 1 stirk .................. 12s - 0d It: in moneys .................... 40 - 0 pledges secunda forman legis John Ratcliffe & Willm Martin [next page] August the 12th 1666 Capt Joh: Sayle sworne & examined saith yt Willm Kneele deceased tould him, yt he had paid Edmond Kneele xs[10s] yt he ought, & the said Edmond asking him for ye use, the said Willm Kneele refusing to pay it the said Edmond haveinge the moneys in his hand tyed togeather threw it into a bush of gorse, & they both went away & left it there: & further saith yt the said Willm tould him allso, yt he the said Edmond came to him 2 or 3 dayes after & demanded ye said money, & the said Willm justifieing yt he handsed it not since he gave it from him & went both to the bush of gorse to seek for it, but found it not & fur= ther saith not Joh: Sayle mark XX Jony Caly wife of him the said Willm beinge sworne & examined saith, yt she gave unto her said husband xs[10s] to pay unto Edmond Kneele, & at his returne home tould her yt he had paid the said xs unto Edmond Kneele, & yt she never saw penny of ym since: & further saith not Jony Caly her mark XX [next page] Accordinge to Parson Harrison authoritie I have taken ye oaths of John Woods & Willm Sayle who have deposed yt they were prsent when Willm: Sayle sould a mayre & follower to Edmond Kneele for 13s & ye moneys was paid them in theire sight, upon this condicon yt ye said Willm Sayle should deliver him ye said mayre & follower when he came for it ym standing upon yr feete & further saith not: Will Sayle XX John Woods X Phillip Sayle sworne & examined saith yt hee was by, when Edmond Kneele came to see ye mayre & follower, & saw his said brother Willm Sayle deliver the said mayre & follower unto him the said Edmond by a halter upon ye mayres heade & further saith not Phillip Sayle marke X These deposisions were taken accordinge to authroitie: ys xjth[11th] of Nor: 1666 by mee: Jo: Huddlestone I have taken ye oaths of ye within named Marg: & Anne Sayle who have deposed yt ye within claimed debts is fully satisfied & paid, by ye delivering of a mayr & filly to Edmond Kneele in his life time, & further saith yt they neither ought him panny nor penny worth & further have not deposed: tho the said Joh: Kneele would have ym to sweare ye said claimed debt to bee paid in moneys, wch they would not b--- as before said dated 9r ye 19th 1666 John Huddlestone [next page] Novembr ye 6th ...66 Margt: Christian & ye Executor of Wm Sayle are hereby admitted to ye grave of Edmond Kneale and there in fform of Law, wth lawfull compurgator cleere themselves of the 14s 4d will'd upon them by ye said Edmond otherwise to bee liable to ye debt and this to be pformed wthin 14 dayes next after the ----te hereof all pties having had due notice The minister is desired to administer ye oath & return vertyficate Joh: Harrison
