Archdeacon Will 1669A #025 Santan will of John Cosnahan, died 1669:
Summary: not married, uncle Sir Hugh Cosnahan (has children), inventory is included in his father's will, witnesses: William Cowle & William Bridson.
Grandfather: Santan parish register: John Cosnahan late Vicar of KK St Anne, d. 24 July 1656, buried 25 June 1656, Epis Will. 
Uncle: Santan parish register: Hugh Cosnahan vicar of this Parish for 23 years, buried 25 September 1690. 
Grandather & uncle: IOM Natural History & Antiquarian Society: John of Santan was succeeded in that vicarage by his son Hugh, not directly, for the vicarate 
was vacant during the Commonwealth, the parish being administered by an anabaptist, Crowe, a toady of Governor Challenor. The son Hugh, generally known as 
Sir Hugh, gained great fame in the Island as a rider to hounds, and a horse man generally. He was Vicar of Santan 1667 - 1690. He was succeeded as Vicar of 
Santan by his son 'Sir' John.

prsentments: ffirst we present our Mynister Sr: Charles Crow for not officiating & doe his duties in his mynisteriall function in everye Sabboth, & allso 
one the weeke days: for church duties as chrissening and the like 2 wee present him for goeinge into England & leaveinge his place unpvided for, by a 
minister, as in dutie hee is bound; but are forced to send from parish to parish for a minister to officiat his dutye .... 4 wee present our clerk Hugh 
Cusnahan for refuseing to send for a minister to babtise children: beinge required, tho as we understand hee agreed wth our said minister to officiat in 
his place & office.

first wee doe present the Spirituall officers or the Intramentall ordanarie in regard wee doe want a sufficient minister in case of our necessitie belonging 
to a minister as we are thereunto sworne; we doe lickewise present Hugh Cosnahan clarke  by reason he did not get or send for a minister in case of 
necessitie to minister the communion to Jo: Moore Ballaforth. 
NOTE, that with the reformation, the parish of Santan had no vicar in 1664 until the clerk Hugh Cosnahan became their vicar of Santan in 1667.  

KK Stt Anne 1669 In the name of God Amen I John Cosnahan sick & weake in body but whole & perfectt in memory praised be God for does make this my last will & testament in maner and form following: ffirst I Committ my soule in to the hands of Almighty God and my body to Christian Buryall Itt: I doe leave freely & willingly unto my uncle Sr Hugh Cosnahan all that was due unto me by the death of my ffather either in money ore goods and alsoe I doe appoint and ordaine my sd uncle sole executor of all my goods whatsoever and this I doe give him because hee hath beene carefull of me in my sicknesse and for the cost and charges that hee hath laide out to cure mee of my disease more over and besides I doe promis before these wittness= es whether I live ore die never hereafter to trouble or molest my sd uncle ore Anie of his children butt what hee or they please to give mee and to wittness that this is my act and deed I have putt too my hand before these wittneses the day and yeere above written wittnesses here of John Cosnahan my marke X Wm Cowle jurati Wm Bridson my marke X probatum et solvit 6d The Invent included in his fathers will etc:
