Archdeacon Will 1683A #29 Lezayre will of Ewan Christian, dated 15 December 1683: 
Summary: wife is alive, eldest son John, other young children, the children are all very small, 
Ewan's siblings are as poor as is he & unable to help support the children.

Ramsey Decembr: ye 15th 1683 The Last will & Testamt: of Ewan Christian who was [edge]--- perfect memory comited his soule to God & his Body to [edge]---stian Buriall, hee bequeathed to his eldest son John [edge]--- halfe of the house & garden, and his goods being [edge]--- inconsiderable to be devided betwixt soe many child [edge]--- therfore he left it to his wife for to bee a helpe [edge]--- her to bring them up & made his sd wife sole [edge]---utr: of all the rest of his goods wittnes hereof [edge]---d Christian } The wife sworn in form of law [edge]--- Christian } jurati Probatum et solvit nil In regard that there is noe relation on the fathers side that can any way be helpfull to ye mother in bring up any of the children, who are all very smale and the goods very inconsiderable the Court hath therfore accepted of the above wth this reservation yt if any of the next of kin doe come in the childrens behalf wthin a twelve month and a day and take upon them the charge of the deads pt of the children, that they are then to have the benefitt of law not wthstanding the probate of ys will
