Summary: wife [Joney Clague] is alive, son & heir Adam is underage [Adam born 1683], brother John Caine, brother Daniel/Dollin, witnesses: 
Adam Mylevorrey & William Woods, pledges: William Woods & William Clague, also: Philip Corlett entered a claim for 20s, Thomas Kingley entered 
a claim for cutting hay, also: eldest brother [James] Caine.

Will of father: ArW 1680A #30 Ballaugh will of Adam Caine, died February 1680/1: wife [Catharine Killip] is not mentioned [died 11 May 1679, ArW 1678A #50], 
dau in law Joney Caine alias Clague, eldest son James, son John, son Philip (executor), son Daniel/Dollin (executor); witnesses: Thomas Cowley & Thomas Quayle, 
pledges: Nicholas Caine & Thomas Cowley.
Father &c: 1662 Liber Vastarum, Ballaugh: Thomas Cowley had farmland in Carnedall treen (total rent 21s 3d), and he should be entered for only 5s 3 3/4d, 
since he previously sold to John Quayle rent of 4s 3/4d.  Afterwards, John Quayle sold the same rent to Adam Cottiam & Adam Cottiam sold half of it to Adam Caine, 
so that now in 1662, Thomas Cowley was entered for 15d rent, & Adam Caine was to come forth for 5s 3 3/4d rent in the 2 places that xxxx name formerly stood.
1666 Liber Vastarum, Ballaugh: Thomas Cowley had farmland of 9d yearly rent in Carnedall treen (total rent 21s 3d) and he sold the land to Philip Garrett & 
[brother in law?] Adam Mylevorrey who were jointly entered for the 9d rent in 1666.
Father Adam &c: 1679 Liber Vastarum, Ballaugh: Adam Cottiam & Adam Caine were jointly entered for farmland of 4s 3/4d yearly rent in Carnedall treen (total rent 
21s 3d), & the said Cottiam's rent fell into the Lord's hand & given by the Governor & Attorney after proclamation was made several times in the parish church 
to Mr Charles Christian who was in possession & paid his part of the rent so that Mr Charles Christian & Adam Caine were entered for 4s 3/4d rent in 1679.
Father Adam &c: 1680 Liber Vastarum, Ballaugh: Thomas Cowley was entered for farmland of 6d yearly rent in Carnedall 
treen (total rent 21s 3d, and in 1680, Adam Caine was in possession of the 6d rent & was entered for the same.
Self & father Adam & brother James &c: 1681 Liber Vastarum, Ballaugh: Adam Caine was entered for farmland of 6d yearly rent, Mr Charles Chrisian & Adam Caine for 
4s 3/4d rent, & Adam Caine for 5s 4 3/4d yearly rent all in Carnedall treen (total rent 21s 3d), and in 1681, Philip Caine, by a contract bargain from his father 
Adam Caine was entered for all the parcels of farmland in place of his father,  with the consent of his eldest brother James Caine.
father Adam &c: 1666 Liber Vastarum, Ballaugh:  Thomas Cowley & Thomas Quayle were jointly entered for farmland of 2s 9d yearly rent in Carnedall treen 
(total rent 22s), and he sold the land/rent to Philip Garrett & [brother in law?] Adam Mylevorrey for the 2s 9d, and they sold to Adam Caine rent of 2s 3d 
who was entered for it in 1666, & Philip Garrett & Adam Mylevorrey for 6d rent.
Father Adam &c: 1666 Liber Vastarum, Ballaugh:  William Gawne was entered for farmland of 2s 9d yearly rent 
in Carnedall treen (total rent 22s), and he sold it to Adam Caine who was entered for the 2s 9d rent in 1666.
Self & father Adam & brother James: 1681 Liber Vastarum, Ballaugh: Adam Caine had 2 parcels of farmland of 2s 3d rent & 2s 9d rent in Carnedall treen 
(total rent 22s), and Philip Caine, his son, was entered by virtue of a contract bargain & with the consent of Adam's eldest son James Caine.
father & son:  1691 Composition Book, Ballaugh:  Adam Caine was entered for / compounded for farmland / quarterland in 1643, and in 1691, 
his grandson Adam Caine was tenant of it, with lives in being Thomas Garrett aged 56 years [born about 1636].
Son & his wife & Philip's brother or nephew James: Old Ballaugh Sales, #42: date 13 January 1712/3: Adam Caine of Ballaugh & his wife Ann [Callister] 
sold to their friend/[?uncle or ?cousin] James Caine of Ballaugh a small parcel of quarterland in Ballaugh called Booley Adda and Booley Dow, annual rent 1d; 
Adam & his wife are to leave a way for James Caine to pass from his own house to the Knockan highway. witnesses: Robert Lowey & Thomas Corlett, Court 13 May 1713.
Son & Philip's brother or nephew James: Old Ballaugh sales, #50: date 24 May 1714: James Caine of Ballaugh & his wife Joney sold for 14s to Adam Caine of Ballaugh 
a small parcel of quarterland in Ballaugh called Bolley Keal, rent 2d, witnesses: Ewan Moore & Charles Lace & Thomas Cowle & John Caine, Court May 1714.
Son & his wife & grandson Patrick: North Side Sales, Ballaugh, May 1738  26: date 21 February 1736/7: Adam Caine & his wife Ann Callister settle & estate on their 
son Patrick half of all their houses & lands (quarterland, intack & cottage) in Ballaugh, including the quarterland of the Knockan & of Gliondoo, 
Patrick paying them £4 10s  as they shall have need for it towards payng their debts and incumbrances, witnesses: Thomas Cowley & John Teare.
Grandson: Ballaugh parish register: Patrick son of Adam Caine  christened  17 July 1712 in Ballaugh.
grandson: Ballaugh parish register: Patrick Caine married Ellin Clark on 11 February 1737/8 [?or 1736/7] in Ballaugh.

Ballaugh March ye 4th 1685 The last will & Testement of Philip Cayne who committed his soule to God, and his bodie to Christian buriall. He left unto the poore foure shilling He left unto his loveing wife the two cheists Item, he left unto his Brother John Cayne all his cloathes which were shaped Item he left unto his Brother Dollin three sheep. Item, he left unto his own son & Heyre a sheep & a ewe, given him in gift at his baptizing. He left unto his said sonn all his lands as Heyrshipe as he had it himself, and his pte of the Cropp & all necessaries thereunto belonging on his parte Item, his will was that if God should call for his sd sonn in his minorite, that then his wife should have two parts of his goods and his Brother John to have the third part, And yf God should call for him before he could mannage ye sd ground then his will was that his Brother Dollin should enjoy the Lands only and nothing else.
